LOS ANGELES, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- Turner Network Television (TNT) said it will re-air the Emmy Awards-nominated 1999 television movie "Pirates of Silicon Valley" Thursday night as a tribute to Steve Jobs, Apple's creative co-founder who died overnight.According to the cable television channel, the original drama will be shown at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Pacific Time.Adapted from a bestseller "Fire in the Valley: The Making of The Personal Computer" by Paul Freiberger and Michael Swaine, the 95-minute made-for-television docudrama follows the fascinating and unforgettable race between technology rivals Apple Computers and Microsoft, two fledgling computer empires which have literally changed the world in many areas.It stars "ER" and "Falling Skies" actor Noah Wyle as Steve Jobs, Anthony Michael Hall, who played the leading role in the USA Network series "The Dead Zone," as Microsoft founder Bill Gates and Joey Slotnick ("Nip/Tuck") as Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak.The film debuted on TNT in June 1999 and went on to garner five Emmy nominations including Outstanding Made for Television Movie and Outstanding Writing for a Miniseries of Movie.Wyle impersonated Jobs at the 1999 Macworld conference and delivered the opening remarks. BEIJING, Dec. 25 (Xinhua) -- A total of 14,976 cases of medical disputes were handled by the country's emerging third-party mediation organizations, with over 80 percent of them being successfully settled, said Vice Health Minister Zhang Mao.Zhang told Xinhua recently in an exclusive interview that China has to date set up 1,358 third-party mediation organizations to settle medical disputes.The third-party mediation organizations have come into being since late 2009 which usually hire retired doctors, medical experts and lawyers to bridge the communication gaps between doctors and patients and direct patients to resort to legal means in settling medical disputes.The third-party mediation system for medical disputes is a latest reform to ease doctor-patient tension that sometimes escalate into violence.Such incidents erupted several times this year, and in an extreme case in September, a 43-year-old surgeon in Beijing Tongren Hospital was stabbed by a patient into serious injury. The attack was believed to have been triggered by a medical dispute in which the patient alleged that the surgeon had committed malpractice during an operation.

SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- Microsoft announced on Tuesday that it has acquired video search engine VideoSurf.In a press release, Microsoft said it will integrate VideoSurf' s technology across its entertainment platform to augment the Xbox 360 ecosystem and evolve search and discovery of entertainment content on Xbox LIVE.Details of the deal were not disclosed. "Our test would add information and aid in diagnostics in a way no other existing technology can do," he added.BNA could help doctors find out exactly at what stage of the disease patients and prescribe the exact medication for them."To do that, we must collect a lot of data," Zangvil said. "To say this person has a certain disease or condition, I have to be able to compare their pattern to a normal brain pattern of a person of the same age and gender." he said.Researchers hope to gather the amount of data they need to obtain FDA approval in the U.S. by the end of 2012, and start marketing it to hospitals by 2013.
