BEIJING, May 15 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao has ordered the armed forces and civil aviation department to deploy 90 more helicopters for rescue missions in quake-hit Sichuan province.     The decision was made at a late Wednesday evening meeting of the national quake relief headquarters held on a running train from Sichuan provincial capital Chengdu to Guangyuan city about 200 kilometers away. About half of the 20 million population in these areas were directly affected by the quake, according to the meeting. Among them are 1,620 people seriously injured, according to information from the meeting.

SINGAPORE, July 23 (Xinhua) -- The first informal meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Six-Party Talks on the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue concluded here on Wednesday with "very meaningful results", Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi said.     In a news briefing after the close-door talks on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Ministerial Meeting, Yang said that the Six-Party Talks have "very meaningful results", adding that they exchanged views and deepened understanding and expressed the will of continued pushing forward the Six-Party Talks further.     Yang said, "with joint efforts, the six parties agreed that the initial success has been achieved" and the informal talks "made useful preparation for the formal Six-Party Ministerial Talks in early day".     The Chinese foreign minister said the six parties reaffirmed they will earnestly fulfill their commitment to the signed joint statements and related documents.     Yang said all agreed the Six-Party Talks are an important platform for exchanging views and enhancing understanding, adding that the six parties should continue to enhance their exchanges so as to "achieve mutual benefit and win-win progress". Chief delegates of the six-party talks on the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue ended talks on July 12, agreeing to establish a verification mechanism for denuclearization.

BUCHAREST, May 6 (Xinhua) -- China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin said here Monday that China and Romania share the same task of opening up a new era in their all-round partnership of friendship and cooperation.     Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China's top political consultative body, delivered a speech at a session of the Romanian Senate on Monday evening.     In his speech, Jia explained China's policy and concept of peaceful development and mutually beneficial, win-win cooperation with other countries. He emphasized the willingness to further deepen friendship between China and Romania and advance China's relations with Central and Eastern Europe in an all-round way. They should continue to give a full play to the role of their joint economic commission, encourage and support their companies to increase contact and explore new ways and methods of cooperation.     Thirdly, the two countries should deepen cultural and humanitarian exchanges. They should continue exchanges and cooperation in such fields as culture, science, technology, education, sports, public health and tourism so as to add new content to bilateral links. They should further expand people-to-people exchanges, exchanges among local authorities and young people so as to consolidate the foundation of China-Romania friendship and add vigor to the development of bilateral links.     Fourthly, the two countries should step up coordination and cooperation on international issues.
