A memorial service and burial is scheduled for Saturday in Modesto.Singh, who emigrated from his native Fiji to pursue a career in law enforcement, joined the Newman police force in 2011. The 33-year-old was married and had a 5-month-old son.Prosecutors said Perez Arriaga, 33, shot Singh after the officer stopped his vehicle to check if he was driving drunk. He has two previous drunken driving arrests, authorities said.At his first court appearance, Perez Arriaga told the judge that his real name is Paulo Virgen Mendoza, but authorities were still referring to him as Perez Arriaga in court documents. A complaint lists three aliases for him, including Paulo Virgen Mendoza.His attorney, Stephen Foley, questioned his client's mental competency, leading the court to delay the case until a mental health evaluation. She organized the protest outside the Southern Division in Nestor Monday night, but she was far outnumbered by residents and business owners who showed up to support the officers and thank them for their service. RELATED:  Protest planned over controversial San Diego Police Department email"You hear words like quota and you get a little nervous, but I don't, and knowing these police officers, I don't believe for a minute that any of this was racially motivated or supposed to be directed at communities of color. I've been a person of color, I've seen things, they're not happening here," said Jason Wells. Williamson and a handful of other people at the protest are upset about an email sent by a police sergeant to the 90 officers at the Southern Division suggesting a reward based program for drug arrests. Team 10 obtained the email from an officer who wished to remain anonymous out of fears for his job.  According to the email, the officer with the most points would be rewarded with the opportunity to work in a specialized unit for up to a month. The goal was to motivate officers, increase experience and target high-crime areas.  It stated the program was being instituted in Southern Division and is strictly voluntary. It also stated that the program runs from March 1 (retroactive) to April 14.Williamson said the fact the whistleblower felt the need to go to the media, not a supervisor, is another red flag."I'm also concerned that no one else stepped forward out of the 90 officers, only one, and I'm concerned about the culture in the department in how they are really an open door policy," said Williamson.  The anonymous officer told Team 10, other officers were concerned but allowed him to speak for them. Protesters also say "quota systems" breed corruption and target low-income neighborhoods with fewer resources to fight drug problems."I'm concerned that incentive-based programs within internally with the police department would cause corruption and the incentive-based program in low-income communities for drug arrests have primarily been discriminatory," said Williamson.  "Policing should not be a game. It's not fun to arrest people if you want to do a quota, do it on something that can't be transferred from one pocket to another during a stop," said another protester. San Diego's new Police Chief David Nisleit told 10News the program was never authorized or carried out. Chief Nisleit said the email was sent by mistake and retracted within days. NEW ORLEANS, La. – A critically endangered gorilla that was born at a New Orleans zoo just six days ago has died.The Audubon Zoo says its animal care staff noticed Wednesday evening that the infant western lowland gorilla seemed lethargic and weak in the arms of its mother, 13-year-old Tumani. The young gorilla was transferred to the zoo’s animal hospital, but the veterinarian team could not revive it.The zoo says Tumani is currently being monitored by the veterinary team and the entire troop was given the opportunity to grieve the loss of the infant.The zoo says it took extra precautions leading up to the birth, working with Tumani on maternal training to prepare her to be comfortable with the possibility of staff assisting her with feeding or caring for the infant.“There are many risks involved with gorilla births and unfortunately, it is not unusual for a first-time gorilla mom to lose an offspring,” said Dr. MacLean, Audubon’s Senior Veterinarian, in a press release. “Our veterinary team worked with outside medical experts on site including Species Survival Plan Gorilla Birth Management Team, OB-Gyns, and neonatologist to help us prepare and manage this birth.”The mother and baby initially appeared to be doing very well, according to the zoo. Animal care staff were closely monitoring the infant’s health to ensure that mother and baby received the care needed. The infant reportedly appeared to be feeding and progressing well.The zoo says the cause of death is underdetermined at this time. Initially, officials say it appears that there was a lack of adequate lactation from Tumani to support the infant, but they plan to perform a necropsy to determine cause of death. Results will be available in a few weeks.“We are heartbroken over the loss,” said Ron Forman, Audubon Nature Institute President and CEO. “This has been a work in progress for many years, from the introduction of the new troop members to the announcement of the birth, everyone involved has worked tirelessly. In a note to employees, CEO Ryan Roslansky said that the positions that will be eliminated are in its global sales and hiring offices. Roslansky said it's the only layoffs LinkedIn is planning. "To continue adapting and accelerating the company as we have been, we need to ensure we are focusing our efforts and resources against our most strategic priorities to set up the company for success today—and well into the future," Roslansky said in the letter.
