Frontier and United airlines will allow passengers scheduled to travel Wednesday or Thursday within the Plains area to change their tickets at no charge. The offer comes in light of a giant storm bringing hurricane-force winds, snow and rain to the West and Midwest. In the Plains — especially in parts of South Dakota? there may be more than 2 feet of snow by Friday evening. On Wednesday, there had already been more than 260 flights canceled coming into or leaving the Denver International Airport, according to flight tracking website 548
He may be 102 years old, but John Sekulich has the energy to tell you stories about his time in the Army during World War II until you’re blue in the face.“A lot of things happen during the war, you know?” Sekulich says from his home in a Denver suburb. “A lot of crazy things.”He could tell you about working throughout the nights, in blackout conditions, repairing U.S. communication lines cut by the Germans. He could tell you about the time fellow soldiers ran over a nearby hill to warn him of German troops that had just killed dozens of Americans. “Rain, shine or snow, didn’t matter,” he says. “We were out there, trying to repair them lines.”But the story he remembers better than any other was from his trip home, after the war had ended. His father was critically ill, and the military arranged a special flight so he could get home faster.Except the flight—from Greenland to New York-- came eerily close to crash and landing in the Atlantic.“One engine went out,” Sekulich recalls. “So, we’re flying along and about noon, the second engine went out.”But despite only having two of the four engines on that bomber, they landed safely. It was his final memory of the war, and it’s one that now—almost 75 years later—he’ll get to re-live.Thanks to Colorado-based non-profit 1294

GILBERT, Ariz. — After posting a celebratory photo online, four women are banding together to ignore the hate on social media and embrace the love. Arizona mom Bethanie Garcia recently posted a photo of herself and three other mothers who became friends online a year ago and recently met at a conference. It wasn't just any photo of four friends, but one that exposed their postpartum bodies of different shapes and sizes. 436
HOUSTON, Texas – Traveling during the holidays can be fun for some, but not so much for others. This year, an estimated 4.45 million Americans will fly for the Thanksgiving holiday, a 4.6% increase from last year. Knowing what’s happening in the air traffic at any given moment in time is half the battle. Luckily, there’s an app for that called FlightAware. The information for the app is aggregated at the company’s headquarters in Houston.Sherron Goodenough is the Director of Data Solutions for FlightAware, the world’s largest flight tracking and data platform, with over 10 million people using the web and mobile app each month. "We're tracking over 160,000 unique aircraft per day," said Goodenough. One popular feature is the misery map."It's basically a high-level overview of what is being impacted nationwide and you can zoom in to airport level and see how many delays and cancellations are occurring between certain segments or at a specific airport," said Goodenough. FlightAware receives and processes over 60 distinct data feeds from all over the world, including the FAA, global air traffic control, airlines and their own ADSB network. Goodenough says the next step is going beyond real-time tracking to forecasting."We're working on predictive technology efforts so we can just provide way better insight into what to expect for the flight," said Goodenough. The app helps to track everything from flight status to turbulence at your fingertips. 1477
Federal prosecutors say jailhouse video no longer exists of the area around Jeffrey Epstein's jail cell on a day he survived an apparent suicide attempt. The U.S. Attorney's Office in Manhattan told a judge Thursday that jail officials preserved video of the wrong jail cell and that a backup system also failed to capture footage because of technical issues. An Epstein attorney says the missing video deepens the mystery surrounding his suicide weeks later. An attorney for Epstein's former cellmate has requested a court hearing to determine what happened to the missing video. 592
