MIRAMAR, Calif. (KGTV) - Two young boys died Friday night after their mother crashed into a semi-trailer on the side of the I-15 freeway. Israel and Adrian Lemus were heading home with their mother when she swerved into the shoulder near Miramar Road and collided with the back of the trailer. The mother was taken to the hospital with broken bones and a brain bleed. Family says she is stable but has been in and out of consciousness. The family had been heading back from Menifee where they were celebrating Israel’s birthday. He was going to turn 11 on Saturday. “They were very happy in the last moments,” said Lidia Lemus, their cousin, who was at the party. “It’s very surreal right now,” she said. “They had their whole lives ahead of them.” The family says the mother was not under the influence when she left the party. Multiple people were injured Thursday when a school bus collided with a dump truck and flipped over in Mount Olive Township in Morris County, New Jersey, officials said.The Associated Press reports that one adult and one student were killed.Mount Olive Mayor Rob Greenbaum, who saw the aftermath of the highway crash from an overpass, described the scene as "horrific." He told HLN Thursday there were possible ejections in the crash.At least three hospitals have received patients from the accident, including two believed to be children, officials said.The bus was transporting students from East Brook Middle School in Paramus, New Jersey, according to a school official."Our hearts are broken by today's tragedy," Gov. Phil Murphy said in a Facebook post after arriving at the school.Jay Faltings, who drove past the scene about five minutes after the crash, told HLN he saw children being rescued from the wreckage.Faltings said the front of the dump truck appeared to have been sheared off and the school bus was "ripped off its frame" after hitting a guard rail and flipping over."It's like nothing you've ever seen before," he said.Faltings said first responders appeared to have removed the children from the scene."They were young kids," he said. "But luckily, first responders, everybody there helped get all the kids out safely from what we could see... (KGTV) - A student was stabbed in the chest by another student Monday at North Monterey County Middle School, the Monterey County Sheriff’s Department said.The attack happened in the quad of the Castroville school about 8:30 a.m., just before classes started, investigators said.The victim and the attacker are both 12 years old, said Deputy Joseph Banuelos. One of the boys stabbed the other with a six-inch kitchen knife, according to the deputy.A staff member approached the attacker and distracted him while another staff member came up behind the boy and tackled him.When deputies arrived, they arrested the attacker, who was sitting in the principal’s office.The school was locked down for an hour while a medical helicopter arrived to take the victim to a San Jose trauma center.The victim’s injuries are life threatening, Banuelos said.  880

MILWAUKEE — Christopher R. Ward has been charged with second-degree reckless homicide in the death of 14-year-old Jada Wright. Police responded to the scene late last Wednesday night at their home on the city's northwest side. According to police, Jada has cerebral palsy, and Ward was her personal care worker. Initially, the 18-year-old defendant reported to police that Jada had complications with her feeding earlier that night. He said was not involved in her death, and claimed she had a history of injuring herself.Jada's school physical therapist said she never saw Jada injure herself. She also said Jada was missing from school for a month.Ward was taken into custody after an autopsy revealed blunt force trauma to her abdomen.After further questioning, Ward admitted he had become frustrated with the girl while trying to feed her through her feeding tube. She had maneuvered her tube out of her stomach, frustrating him further. In response, he punched her in the stomach. Ward reconnected her tube and left the room. Upon returning, he saw she had vomited on herself, and did not seek additional care for her or tell first responders about his actions.    1207
