The number of people casting an early ballot in the presidential election now surpasses those who voted early during all of 2016. That's more than 58.6 million people who have cast their ballot with eight days to go before Election Day. The total of early votes cast either in-person or by mail in 2016 was 58 million according to the Associated Press. According to the U.S. Election Project, a data collection project run by a professor at the University of Florida, the total number of votes cast so far for the 2020 election is roughly 43 percent of the total number of votes cast in the 2016 election including early votes and on Election Day. Democrats have been dominating early voting, but Republicans are slowly narrowing the gap. The opening of early voting locations in Florida, Texas and elsewhere has piled millions of new votes on top of the mail ballots arriving at election offices as voters try to avoid crowded places on November 3 during the coronavirus pandemic. The National Hurricane Center has issued a hurricane watch for sections of the Gulf Coast as Louisiana and Texas prepares for a second tropical system this week.Tropical Storm Laura, which had top winds of 65 MPH as of 11 p.m. ET Monday, is expected to turn into the Gulf of Mexico and strengthen into a hurricane. The potential hurricane is expected to hit either the Texas or Louisiana coast late Wednesday.A hurricane watch is in effect from Port Bolivar, Texas, to west of Morgan City, Louisiana. A tropical storm watch is in effect from south of Port Bolivar, Texas, to San Luis Pass, Texas, and from Morgan City, Louisiana to the Mouth of the Mississippi River.As of Monday morning, Laura was dumping heavy rain on both Cuba and Jamaica. According to the National Hurricane Center, the storms could cause mudslides and urban flash floods on the islands.Laura has already caused the deaths of at least 11 people in the Dominican Republic and Haiti, while knocking out power and causing flooding Sunday.Meanwhile, Tropical Depression Marco, made landfall along the Louisiana coast Monday evening, according to the National Hurricane Center, as a minimal tropical storm. It weakened from hurricane all the way to a depression on Monday. All tropical storm warnings have been dropped in associated with Marco.Marco was recording maximum sustained winds of 35 mph as of late Monday evening. Marco was a hurricane most of Sunday, but the National Hurricane Center says its maximum sustained winds decreased after nightfall. 1532

The military is investigating why an aging cargo plane making its final military flight nosedived into a Georgia highway on Wednesday, killing all nine people on board.The Puerto Rico Air National Guard WC-130 was flying from Savannah, Georgia, to Tucson, Arizona, where it was to be decommissioned. The plane involved in Wednesday's crash was at least 50 years old, according to an official familiar with the aircraft."Nine crew members died in the accident, but until their families and relatives are notified, we cannot give their names," said Brigadier General Isabelo Rivera, the assistant general of Puerto Rico. 626

The hunter becomes the hunted!In April, a nature photographer along Florida's Gulf Coast captured some incredible images of an osprey with a fresh kill, flying hundreds of feet in the air.The man who took the stunning pictures, Doc Jon, said he knew he took some great shots.
