(KGTV) - Chula Vista Police on Wednesday identified the man stabbed to death in what officers described as a road rage incident.Horace Williams, 36, was involved in the fight with 60-year-old Rickey Smith on Sweetwater Road Tuesday, police said.Witnesses told police Smith was following Williams’ van as the two yelled at each other. Smith’s pickup struck the van from behind, then Smith pulled in front of the van and stopped abruptly, witnesses said. Witnesses said he was wearing his uniform at the time of the incident.“This report is deeply disturbing. CHULA VISTA (CNS) - A man who allegedly stabbed and seriously injured another man with a screwdriver during a San Ysidro street robbery pleaded not guilty Friday to attempted murder, robbery and vandalism charges.Eduardo Hernandez Oliveros, 22, is accused of robbing the victim just before 7:30 a.m. Sept. 17 in the 600 block of East San Ysidro Boulevard.Police said the victim was using his cell phone when Oliveros confronted him on the street and asked to use the phone. Before the victim could react, Oliveros allegedly snatched the phone out of his hand and took off.Deputy District Attorney Daniel Shim alleged the victim chased Oliveros down and a "physical struggle" ensued, culminating in the defendant stabbing the victim in the face and neck with a screwdriver.Bystanders called police, who responded and arrested Oliveros, who faces more than 25 years in state prison if convicted of all charges, according to the prosecutor.The victim, whose name was not released, was hospitalized with serious injuries, according to the San Diego Police Department, which alleged that Oliveros "admitted he was trying to kill the victim."Oliveros has a prior attempted murder conviction for stomping on his girlfriend's head, stabbing her in the leg and telling her he was going to kill her, according to Shim. He was found guilty in 2015 in Riverside County, according to the criminal complaint.Bail was set at million for Oliveros, who is due back in court Oct. 14 for a readiness conference. 1503

CINCINNATI -- A school bus crash Monday afternoon on Winton Road in Cincinnati left a 12-year-old girl in "critical" condition, flung a 2-year-old boy onto the road and resulted in the hospitalization of at least 18 other children, according to Lt. Steve Saunders.At least 11 children, including the seriously injured boy and girl, were taken away in ambulances Monday afternoon after the Pleasant Hill Academy bus and four other vehicles collided around 2:30 p.m. Nine others were taken to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center after their parents took them there to be checked out."I was devastated," parent Latisha McKelton said of the moment she heard about the crash. "I didn’t know what was wrong with my child. I just had to jump in the first moving vehicle and get here as fast as I could to my child. I didn't know if he was injured. I didn't know if he was going to be alive. I just didn't know. I was praying the whole way."According to a news release from Cincinnati police, a total of around 40 people were involved in the crash.Police said the bus was traveling southbound on Winton when a northbound vehicle driven by 23-year-old Robert Jett made an ill-fated attempt to pass the vehicle in front of him.Jett lost control of his car and struck another, this one driven by Jordan Ervin and transporting a pair of toddlers. (KGTV) - Two girls were hit and injured by a pickup truck in Chula Vista Monday afternoon, officers said.The crash happened about 3:45 p.m. on East H Street at Terra Nova Drive, just east of Interstate 805. The location is near a shopping center with a Taco Bell and Jack in the Box, and Clear View Elementary School. Ambulances rushed the girls, who appeared to be teenagers, to Rady Children’s Hospital. They were both conscious, according to Chula Vista Police.The driver of the silver Toyota Tacoma who hit the girls stopped, police said. CINCINNATI — Cross-country runner Justin Gallegos is making history. He’s the first athlete with cerebral palsy to sign an endorsement contract with Nike. The University of Oregon junior was given the news last weekend after a college race, and he was visibly touched by achieving his dream of becoming a professional runner. Justin’s parents, Brent and Tracy Gallegos, say they’re proud all Justin has worked to achieve, and were stunned to see him in that moment."I’ve never seen him that emotional ever…..ever," Brent Gallegos said.Justin’s condition affects muscle and motor function, but he didn’t let that stop him."He works very hard for it and when he sets his goals, he sets them very high," Tracy Gallegos said.His story of overcoming obstacles is inspiring others. He was a big topic of conversation among some medical professionals attending a three-day conference for the American Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine hosted by Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
