Green Agriculture, which produces and distributes humic acid based liquid compound fertilizer, is also the first Chinese company to list on NYSE Euronext markets in 2009. "Today is an exciting milestone in the company's continued growth," said Tao Li, chief executive officer of China Green Agriculture. "Since becoming a public company last year, we have devoted a great deal of resources to improving our corporate governance and level of oversight in order to meet the requirements of a more senior exchange," he added. So far, NYSE Euronext has 66 companies listed from Greater China, including 56 companies from mainland China listed on the NYSE Euronext, 5 from Hong Kong on NYSE Euronext Markets, and 5 Taiwanese companies on NYSE Euronext Markets. The total global market capitalization of NYSE Euronext-listed companies from the mainland China is 1.1 trillion U.S. dollars, and 1.2 trillion for all companies from Greater China.

BEIJING, March 9 (Xinhua) -- China will not revise the Labor Contract Law to compromise workers' rights as suggested by some people to help enterprises cope with the global financial turmoil, a legislator said here Monday. "The labor contract law has nothing to do with the financial crisis and won't be revised for it," said Xin Chunying, deputy director of the Legislative Affairs Commission of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), China's legislative body. "China's labor relations are basically stable and orderly, and it can weather through the test of time," she told a press conference on the sidelines of NPC's annual session, when asked if the law will be changed because increased labor costs have led to rising cases of bankruptcy on the Pearl River Delta. Citing a survey that tracts figures in the first nine months of the 2008, she said the law has indeed driven up enterprises' labor costs by two percent, but it has also greatly curbed labor relations issues that have been afflicting workers as well as employers for years. Such chronical issues include the tendency of employers avoid signing long-term contracts with employees, the lack of proper protection of workers' rights, said Xin. The proportion of workers protected by a written labor contracts in "sizable enterprises" has witnessed a remarkable rise since the labor contract law took effect in January 2008, she said. "Sizable enterprises" is a statistical term in China that refers to all state enterprises or private firms with an annual turnover of two million yuan if they are manufacturers, or five million yuan if they are in trade. According to Xinhua, 93 percent of the workers in "sizable enterprises" have signed contracts with their employers, compared to less than 20 percent before the enaction of the new law. Li Shouzhen, a senior official with the All China Federation of Trade Unions, said at the same press conference that the federation is against the lifting of the minimum wage standard. GUANGZHOU, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- Millions of migrant workers from rural areas in China are expected to enjoy their golden years with pensions, like the urbanites do, as the country's top social security authority has planned to help them systematically gain access to the service. A document released Thursday by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security to solicit public opinions said migrant workers could move their pension accounts from one place to another when they move, a practice that is currently banned for lack of proper regulations. "With the new rule, I can get pensions like urban elders when I am old," said Liu Xinguo, a migrant worker who comes from central Hunan Province. He is now working in a property management company in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong Province. The proposed rule stipulates migrant workers who have joined pension plans can continue their pension accounts as long as they get pension premium payment certificates in their previous working places. Currently, Liu himself puts 100 yuan per month into his pension account while his company contributes 180 yuan on his behalf. "If I withdraw my pension account, I will no longer get the company's input in my pension account," said Liu, who has been working in Guangzhou for more than a decade. In fact, many migrant workers who have had pension accounts, have chosen to withdraw their accounts before they leave the place where they work and plans to work in other places. They only get the fund they have paid and cannot get the company's part in the accounts. Tang Yun, who comes from Jiangxi Province and is now in Dongguan City, Guangdong, is an example.
