"Flippy," the burger-flipping robot introduced recently at a Pasadena, Calif., burger restaurant, has been taken offline after one day on the job.The robot was taken off the line, in fast-food terms, at CaliBurger, BBC News reported, after it was unable to keep up with demand. Miso Robotics introduced the robot as a potential replacement to human cooks.So the burger-flipping robot has been switched off until coders can update it.Interest and news about Flippy's "hiring" created an increased demand at the restaurant, leading to more orders than it could handle.CaliBurger is reportedly working with staff to make sure the kitchen is working around Flippy as efficiently as possible as well. The restaurant hopes to eventually deploy Flippys in more of its locations.Miso Robotics says Flippy can detect when raw burger patties are placed on the grill and monitors each one. A cloud-based software from the company keeps track of the cook time and alerts workers when it's time to dress the burger patty.Flippy will be able to cook up to 2,000 burgers a day, the company touts. At the corner of Peabody Drive and Hardy Cash Drive in Hampton, Virginia you'll find a group of determined kids."We are raising money for single mothers that are struggling. They have to do so much on their own," said 11-year-old Cartier Carey.Cartier is the leader of the "Carti Pack" and CEO of his lemonade stand, one unlike any other."We sell lemonade, chips, candy - all types of stuff that people want, and it's not expensive," he said.Each dollar spent towards a cup of the summertime drink and goodies on the side goes towards buying diapers for local families in need."The diapers are for mothers or anyone that has babies," Cartier said.It's an unusual business model, but one that's working."There's a shortage of Pampers and wipes in the stores because of the pandemic, so this couldn't have come at a better time," said Anthony Carey, Cartier's dad.A rising sixth-grader like Cartier and his friends could be out playing sports or riding bikes, but instead, they're helping single mothers in the community."There are a lot of grown-ups out there not doing what we're doing," Cartier said."As a parent, it makes me feel spectacular," Anthony said.This lemonade stand isn't a first for Cartier. The show also managed to deal with serious issues -- from Time's Up to diversity and inclusion -- without sacrificing a sense of fun and irreverence.Last year, the two-month awards process was dominated by the collective response to the newly minted Trump administration. While politics played a significant part in Sunday's telecast, there was also the matter of the #MeToo movement, as the entertainment industry still seeks to get its own house in order.Kimmel addressed the #MeToo movement and Time's Up campaign head-on in his opening monologue, which mocked various targets -- including, inevitably, the Trump White House -- with a light, clever touch.Indeed, while Kimmel might have become a more polarizing figure with his entry into the healthcare and gun-control debates, he again brought a genial persona to the emcee role, one that somewhat leavened the seriousness and bouts of pretentiousness that can drip into the ceremony.Toward that end, Kimmel not only joked about the show's length but offered a jet ski as an incentive to whoever gave the shortest speech. Not quite. You're in "Escape Room." The movie. Your plight is the accumulation of questionable choices, and your price is being stuck in a bizarro, idiotic mess for nearly two hours.Game over. You lose.A movie that only wound up in theaters because it's the first Friday of the year — the ninth batter slot of the movie world — "Escape Room" manages to meet lowered expectations and somehow manage to slide right below them.Its C-level stars swap insipid one-liners, perish in a sloppy mess of mediocre special effects and struggle to solve puzzles that range from slap-you-in-the-face obvious to head-shakingly obtuse. Playing like a second-rate "Saw" sequel, it stretches its this premise until it snaps, taking your attention along with it.Escape rooms are famous for taking groups of friends and loved ones and transforming them into bitter enemies who can no longer stand the sight of one another. Their obtuse, teamwork-oriented puzzles have a dastardly way of breeding distrust and contempt in the name of "team building."It's only natural that a movie based on the concept would be similarly sinister and counterproductive. Moviegoers expecting something coherent and competent will leave the theater bitter and unfulfilled. Tyler Labine, Logan Miller, Deborah Ann Woll, Taylor Russell, Logan Miller and Nik Dodani play the hapless contestants who find themselves tricked into taking part in a real-life escape room series that promises ,000 to the winners. Second prize, they quickly learn, is swift, grisly death.These sure aren't the sort of rooms you'll find down at the local strip mall. Contestants are torched, dropped, gassed and electrocuted, usually due to their own idiocy. You start to feel guilty for rooting for the escape room itself, rather than any of the dopey characters.Worse still, director Adam Robitel and his screenwriters go for a twist ending that succeeds in unpredictability only because it's so incomprehensible. By the time the finale hits -- and it makes impact with a thud -- you're so worn out that you're not even annoyed by the inanity. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police Chief David Nisleit tells 10news he's awaiting coronavirus test results for five police officers.Amid the coronavirus outbreak, the days remain busy for police, whether helping those in need, enforcing beach closures, or responding to calls. That means interactions with people who may have COVID-19."I'm waiting for results for five officers. The officers remain isolated right now. We've had some officers' tests come back negative, so that's great news," said Chief Nisleit.A police spokesperson told 10news officers have been self-reporting possible exposure, both on-duty and off-duty. A medical expert then determines if they should be tested. "We have some officers that are showing symptoms, and then we have some other officers that are isolated because they've been exposed," said Chief Nisleit.The precautions being taken by law enforcement across the county include sanitizing vehicles and social distancing, and if physical contact with the public is necessary, the use of masks, goggles and gloves. A spokesperson from Oceanside Police says they're doing more phone or online reports when possible. Dispatch and officers are also asking more questions about cold and flu-like symptoms.A video from the Chula Vista Department tells the public, "We may ask you to wear a mask." Starting Friday, Chula Vista Police will be taking an extra step. A spokesperson says they'll strongly suggest officers wear protective equipment for all interactions with the public closer than six feet. 10news reached out to law enforcement across the county.
