An Ohio man slated to be executed on Wednesday will be allowed to use a special wedged-shape pillow as he is put to death by lethal injection, the Columbus Dispatch reported. Alva Campbell, 69, will lie on the pillow as a three-drug cocktail will be administered to execute Campbell after he was convicted for the kidnapping and killing of an 18-year-old Columbus man. ARCADIA (CNS) - A 5-year-old gelding has been euthanized after fracturing his right front ankle in a race at Santa Anita Park, the 40th horse death at the Arcadia track since December 2018.Harliss finished seventh in a field of eight in the seventh race Friday, "was unsaddled nearing the clubhouse turn and vanned off," according to Santa Anita racing information. He was euthanized under the recommendation of the attending veterinarian.Harliss was third both a quarter-mile and three-eighths of a mile in the 5 1/2-furlong race on Santa Anita's turf course, then dropped to fourth entering the stretch. He was coming off the lone victory in his 12-race career, finishing first in a 5 1/2-furlong race on Los Alamitos Race Course on Dec. 6.Harliss was trained by Val Brinkerhoff. His career earnings were ,026.A necropsy will be performed as required by the California Horse Racing Board.The death was the second among the 705 horses who have raced at Santa Anita's winter/spring meeting, which began Dec. 28. (KGTV) - A preliminary 3.1-magnitude earthquake jostled the Anza region, sending shivers into the North San Diego County area Saturday.The tremor hit about two miles northeast of Anza, in southern Riverside County, just before 12 p.m., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. It has a depth of about 7.4 miles.According to the USGS' "Did you feel it?" map, the shakeup could be felt in Temecula and into Orange County, and as far away as Jamul. Most reports were centered around Cathedral City and Anza.There were no immediate reports of damages or injuries.One week ago, magnitude-3.5 and -3.2 earthquakes hit the same region.Multiple aftershocks were recorded following Saturday's earthquake, though most below 1.0. The quake is the eighth above 2.5 recorded in the Anza area over the past 30 days, according to USGS. 861

In the video, posted on Facebook, Santa is seen being thrust forward as the float he’s riding on seemingly malfunctions. Luckily, Santa was okay. Later in the video, he can be seen climbing down a ladder on the float uninjured. As hundreds of homeless wait to return to the Alpha Project tent in downtown after it was flooded last week, San Diegans are stepping in to give them a little holiday cheer.ABC 10News reporter Natay Holmes was at SDCCU Stadium on Sunday morning where a local photographer, Abe Barron, and a group of kind-hearted volunteers, donated food and treats to those in need.Their mission is called "X-Mas on the Street." The group got together to make 800 tamales to hand out, along with some festive Christmas cookies. Barron and the volunteers will be at the stadium today until noon. Anyone else wishing to donate to the Alpha Project today can visit Gate C through today.The Alpha Project shelter expects to be at the stadium for another week. 748
