He stayed home from work but his family, including his 81-year-old mother-in-law, all eventually landed in the hospital with the virus.“They said it looks like you have COVID pneumonia, so by Monday I was in the hospital and I gave it to my whole family,” said the dad.“How could this happen? How could all four members of their family get this? And it just shows you how contagious it is,” said Raeann Shedd, Drungelo’s sister.Chuck got the sickest. The ventilator wasn't enough. He was moved to an ECMO machine, which is life-support for the lungs and heart, for 19 days. He eventually got virus antibody plasma treatment that helped him turn a corner.“You can still hear my trachea. I got a hole from the feeding tube,” said Drungelo.Drungelo’s sister and his sister-in-law ended up having to make all the medical decisions while they were incapacitated. He was finally able to come home from a rehabilitation facility July 1.“It’s awful because your family is struggling, and you can’t be there for them. You can’t go to the hospital. You can’t hold their hand and talk to the doctor and look them in the eye. People think it’s their right to not wear a mask. The letter points the finger at a new “challenge” popping up on social media platform Tik Tok.The “challenge” reportedly encourages participants to take a dozen or so doses of Benadryl to experience hallucinations. The generic name for Benadryl is diphenhydramine. Taking that much antihistamine can cause severe medical issues.“Large doses of Benadryl can cause seizures and, particularly, problems with the heart,” Scott Schaeffer, director of the Oklahoma Center for Poison and Drug Information, told KFOR. “The heart tends to go out of rhythm and not pump blood effectively.”There is currently an investigation into the death of the Oklahoma City teenager and her exact cause of death.Earlier this year, three teens in Fort Worth, Texas, became sick and had to be rushed to the hospital after taking large amounts of the medication. WEST PALM BEACH, Florida — West Palm Beach says the number of police cars that had to be pulled off the streets due to engine failure has risen to 49.City Administrator Jeff Green said at this point they believe a tainted fuel shipment in the middle of March is to blame. All of those cars had traces of biodiesel in their tanks, which are meant for unleaded only.West Palm Beach Police Public Information Officer David Lefont said it is not impacting public safety since the agency is supplementing with rental cars.“We have captains driving around in minivans,” Lefont said.Seventeen patrol cars have gotten new engines and are back in service.The other affected cars are non-marked cars.Green said Miami-Dade County police reported they had to pull 120 cars with the same issue.In West Palm Beach the cars affected are all Ford, which is why the automaker is investigating the case as well.But Green said at this point they believe it was the fuel shipment.
