SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A 16-year-old was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after he crashed a car into a wall Sunday morning, critically injuring one passenger.Police say the teen was driving too fast on the 3900 block of Imperial Avenue near the Mt. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Two additional suspects were arrested today in connection with a shooting that left a 20-year old man mortally wounded in a Bay Terraces-area neighborhood 16 months ago.Ethan Leland Apan, 28, and Kevin Herrera, 26, were jailed this afternoon on suspicion of taking part in the slaying of Joaquin Ruiz of San Diego, according to police.Another suspect, 26-year-old John Orozco, was taken into custody last Wednesday on suspicion of murder in the case, Lt. Andra Brown said Shortly after midnight on July 13, 2019, patrol officers responding to a report of a possible traffic accident found Ruiz unconscious and suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body in a vehicle alongside the roadway in the 7000 block of Paradise Valley Road.Paramedics took the victim to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police have not disclosed what led investigators to identify Apan, Herrera and Orozco as suspects in the case and have revealed no suspected motive for the slaying.``The District Attorney's Office is currently reviewing this case, which is still an ongoing investigation,'' Brown said. ``We will not be making any further comments or providing additional information at this time.'' 1216

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A 55-year-old homeless man who was attacked with a skateboard while sleeping in North Park has died, San Diego Police said.Arthur Angulo was sleeping in alley in the 2800 block of El Cajon Boulevard  at around 4:30 a.m. Saturday when a man bashed him repeatedly with a skateboard, according to police.  Angulo suffered ``visible signs of major trauma to his upper body,'' San Diego police homicide Lt. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The University of San Diego has the best university in the state for business, management and marketing degrees according to rankings released today by college decision-making website College Factual.USD's business, management and marketing department topped UC Berkeley, University of Southern California, University of San Francisco and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo among California schools. College Factual deemed USD's School of Business the eighth-best in the country as well."These rankings highlight the outstanding learning environment including small classes, cutting-edge curriculum and opportunities for international study that position our undergraduates for success in the business world," said Stephen Conroy, the School of Business' associate dean for undergraduate business programs.College Factual ranked the schools based on students' post-graduation earnings, the schools' accreditation and the number of students at each school majoring in a program related to business, management or marketing. USD is the highest-ranked school west of Texas on the list.Babson College in Wellesley, Mass., is the top undergraduate business program in the country. 1191

  

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A former longtime San Diego Zoo biologist has pleaded guilty to stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from the iconic zoo.Matthew John Anderson, 49, of Ramona, Calif., admitted to stealing more than 6,000 through bogus vendor invoices between December 2008 and October 2016, according to the Office of the U.S. Attorney Southern District of California.Investigators say Anderson created 35 fake invoices billing the San Diego Zoo for various payments from purported vendors. The zoo paid the invoices to third parties that then gave the bulk of the payment to Anderson. In some cases, the payments went directly to accounts controlled by Anderson.RELATED: Hillcrest store owner is getting her stolen jade Buddha statue backAnderson worked for more than 17 years for the zoo, starting as a research fellow and going on to serve as the Director of Behavioral Biology for the zoo's Conservation Research. He was fired in 2017.“When an employee is elevated to a position of leadership, it is a sign of that company’s trust in the integrity and honesty of that person,” said FBI Special Agent in Charge Scott Brunner. “When an employee violates that trust and abuses their position to defraud and steal money for personal benefit, the FBI stands ready to hold them accountable.”Anderson has been charged with theft or conversion concerning programs receiving federal funds. He faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a 0,000 fine.He's scheduled to be sentenced on June 8. 1514
