Former presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton all say they plan to receive a COVID-19 vaccine when it becomes available to them, and all have offered to take the vaccine in a public setting to demonstrate the safety and importance of vaccinations, according to CNN and NBC News.In an interview with SiriusXM radio host Joe Madison, which will air Thursday, Obama said he trusts health experts like Dr. Anthony Fauci "completely" and will follow their recommendations when it comes to vaccines."People like Anthony Fauci, who I know, and I've worked with, I trust completely. According to NBC News, top Bush aide Freddy Ford said that the 43rd president would take the vaccine publicly when it is authorized."First, the vaccines need to be deemed safe and administered to the priority populations. Then, President Bush will get in line for his, and will gladly do so on camera," Ford said.Finally, representatives for former president Bill Clinton also confirmed to CNN that he would also receive the vaccine in a public setting when he is able to do so."President Clinton will definitely take a vaccine as soon as available to him, based on the priorities determined by public health officials. And he will do it in a public setting if it will help urge all Americans to do the same," his press secretary Angel Urena said.During his interview with Joe Madison, Obama said he understands why some Americans — especially those in the Black community — are hesitant to get vaccines. Pack your worries.  Every day, billions of germs are left all over Southwest Florida International Airport.Biology professor Cliff Renk from Florida Gulf Coast University and student Matt Glass joined us as we took a microscopic look at all the germs we encounter when we fly into and out of the airport. The professor swabbed all sorts of surfaces and using a monitor that counts the number of germs. A reading of 300 on the meter indicates a normal amount of bacteria.One elevator button registered 418. The handles on those luggage carts: a nasty 532.  Escalator handles were about the same but loaded with bacteria colonies. The buttons on the ATM machine in the main concourse were home to almost 80 different colonies of bacteria. But that's just the beginning. If you're flying, everyone needs to go through the security checkpoint.  And the bin you place your phone in -- which you hold to your face -- might be the same one the person before it put his shoes in following a visit to the bathroom. They could carry staph, which can cause pimples, boils and in some cases flesh-eating bacteria. There are about 1000-1500 TSA plastic bins that we place our stuff in when we go through security. We tested the first bin and its handles; it came in came below the normal level. The second tested at more than two times higher.  The third, well that's a different story. Even though the number was 611, Professor Renk says some stomach-churning germ colonies  - more than 300 - were lurking on board, including fecal bacteria and other bacteria generally found on the bottom of shoes. Reps from both the airport and the TSA tell us it's important we remember any public space is a breeding ground for germs and to bring and use hand sanitizer or wipes at all times.  Finally, they say to wash your hands frequently. And speaking of hands we did one last test on reporter Frank Cipolla's hands to show you what any one of us might be lugging around at any moment. He spent all morning at the airport and shook about a dozen hands. Remember, 300 is a normal reading. His right hand registered about 3000.The TSA says it would cost too much money to put hand sanitizer dispensers in every airport in America, so a warning to all travelers. Fred Meyer stores will phase out all sales of guns and ammunition, according to parent company, Kroger."Fred Meyer has made a business decision to exit the firearms category," Kroger spokesperson Kristal Howard said in an emailed statement on Monday.The company said it made the decision last week "after evaluating changing customer preferences" and also "softening consumer demand" for guns for the last several years.Annual gun sales at Fred Meyer are million and "continue to decline," according to the company."More recently Fred Meyer has been transitioning away from gun departments as a result of the ongoing work to optimize space in Fred Meyer stores," the company said.The news comes after Kroger announced last week that the grocer will stop selling magazines featuring "assault rifles."Earlier this month, Kroger said its Fred Meyer stores would stop selling guns to anyone under 21, even though the law permits the sale of rifles to anyone 18 or older. FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Caleb Lowman says he was forced to use his shotgun on his neighbor's three dogs when they escaped their cage and began attacking his goats. “When I came out, I had the shotgun with me with the hopes it wouldn’t have to be used,” Lowman said. Lowman says this isn't the first time the dogs have gotten out and been aggressive. On last Monday, the dogs got out of their fence and attacked the goats in his yard. Photos show the goats suffered bite marks up and down their neck and legs.However, one of the dogs' owners, Jake Hutto, claims his pets have never been aggressive. “I don’t understand how it’s possible to shoot three dogs in the head, to blow their face off," Hutto said.Lowman's family called Animal Control after last week's incident and says they safely returned all three dogs to the neighbors. Five days later, Lowman says it happened again — this time in front of his 13-year-old daughter, Chloe. “I had to go outside and watch basically my babies be attacked by dogs," said Chloe. Lowman says despite his family's efforts, the dogs killed two of the goats. That's when he pulled out his shotgun and killed all three dogs. Hutto came home to find that Animal Control had left his pets in three large trash bags.“There’s nothing more you can do, nothing’s going to bring them back,” Hutto said. Records show several citations had been issued from Animal Control to the dog owners' household. But with two goats and three dogs now gone, Lowman says this isn't what he wanted. "This time it was our goats, Monday it was our goats; if we let that happen again that could have been my children," he said. "It didn’t need to be this way if they just secured their dogs."A spokesperson for Animal Control says this is an active investigation. Lowman claims when he put in his final statement today at Animal Control, he was told two citations would be issued against the dog owners. He says the citations are for dogs menacing and harassing livestock and running at large.  2160
