SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man died early Saturday morning after he and another man held a punching game, police say.The incident happened on Fourth Avenue and J Street at Jolt’n Joe’s just before 1 a.m. Police say both men were drinking when they decided to have a punching contest.During the game, one of the men collapsed. Staff at the bar performed CPR on the 27-year-old who was taken to the hospital where he later died.The suspect in the death was taken also taken to the hospital after complaining of chest pain.Police haven’t officially made any arrests. 576

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A person is back in ICE custody and in isolation after they were taken to Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center to be evaluated for possible coronavirus symptoms.The individual was in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement when officials determined the person needed to be taken to Sharp Chula Vista, the county said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A non-profit that drives sick kids and their families to the hospital is celebrating one million miles.Climbing into an Emilio Nares Foundation car, mom Latoya Johnson and her 19-year-old daughter Tay Tay started recalling the memories over the last decade. They were one of ENF's first rides. The non-profit was founded in 2003 and began giving rides in August 2005, according to ENF Vice President of Programs Luz Quiroga. The program expanded from San Diego to Orange County in 2009. Rides started in the Imperial Valley in 2015, and expanded again to San Bernardino, Riverside, and South Los Angeles in 2019.The founders lost their son, Emilio, when he was 6 years old to leukemia. During the exhausting hours of treatment, Emilio's parents realized other families didn't have enough support. When Emilio passed, they turned his loss into a legacy.Johnson said Tay Tay was first diagnosed with a tumor the size of a golf ball in her chest when she was 4-and-a-half years old."It was behind her left lung, it was growing attached to her lung," Johnson said. She found it hard to get to doctor's appointments and treatment. 'It was about three buses, two trolleys and a bus on the other side,' Johnson said. The trip took two and a half hours, then they had to walk up a hill to get to Rady Children's Hospital.In the doctor's office she saw a flier for the Emilio Nares Foundation, and they have been getting picked up ever since, shortening their trip to a half-hour door-to-door.Once they kicked the tumor in Tay Tay's chest, they found out when Tay Tay was 15 that she had a brain tumor. "She's 19 years old now, so she literally is a walking blessing, a walking miracle, and I wouldn't trade her for nothing in the world," Johnson said smiling, pinching her daughter's cheek.Johnson said without the foundation she would have been in tears and they absolutely saved her daughter's life.With the foundation celebrating one million miles, Johnson is working on understanding the impact the foundation had not only on their lives, but on 4,000 children."I wanna cry, because I know I'm crying but the tears won't come out because they're all on the inside, but it's amazing. I'm just happy and blessed for you guys," Johnson said hugging CEO Karen Terra.She hopes telling her story will get more families the help they need.ENF kicked off their "Ride with Emilio" campaign Monday and it continues through the end of the month. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A judge decided Friday to place a sexually violent predator in the East County community of Boulevard. Michael Joseph Martinez, 64 has multiple previous convictions including child molestation and lewd and lascivious acts upon a child under 14, according to County Supervisor Dianne Jacob’s office.The judge added Friday that the sheriff’s department will be extra vigilant and security will be heightened.The judge decided to place Martinez at the Department of State Hospitals recommended location of 2135 McCain Valley Road. The schools closest to the address include Clover Flats Elementary School and Jacumba Elementary School, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.A mother of one of the victims from 25 years ago spoke at the hearing saying, “I know that you can’t change the order and I’m glad that there’s going to be very strict ordering, but I hope this doesn’t happen to another child or family.”RELATED: Dianne Jacob slams proposed placement of predatorJacob said the placement would put public safety at risk. She adds that several sexually violent predators have been placed in East County in recent years and in some cases, the convicts ended up violating the conditions of their placement.In a letter to Judge David M. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego man has been sentenced to more than six years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple gun charges in a Tucson, Arizona federal court.Joshua Pratchard came to the FBI's attention after a short-lived attempt to join what prosecutors call a border militia group in Arizona in January 2018. The group kicked Pratchard out after just a few days, saying he did not want to follow their rules, including repeatedly asking to get physical with detainees and demanding to put a silencer on his weapon. He was also deemed eager for confrontations with criminal bandits known as "rip crews" who seek to steal drug loads in the desert.Pratchard continued to be involved in activity in Arizona, leading to contact with a member of the group who was a FBI informant. Pratchard revealed that he manufactured and sold weapons. The informant reported this to the FBI, which led to an investigation. Eventually, Pratchard was arrested after selling firearms to the informant. A search of Pratchard's apartment in Pacific Beach led to the discovery of a "gun factory." Along with the machinery to build firearms and bullets, agents found four homemade guns and enough gunpowder for 9,000 rounds of ammunition.The FBI investigation also discovered Pratchard's criminal history, which includes a conviction for having ecstasy when he was serving in the Marine Corps, and a 2007 felony assault conviction.Although he has been sentenced on the gun charges, Pratchard's legal trouble may not be over. During the sentencing hearing, prosecutors made multiple references to a non-profit organization Pratchard ran in San Diego which could see fraud charges filed in the future. 10News uncovered Pratchard's involvement leading a charity known as "Second Chance Fields," which is dedicated to rebuilding or refurbishing athletic fields at San Diego schools. His website touts to significant projects, including renovation of the baseball field at Mission Bay High School and a large-scale renovation of football and lacrosse facilities at Del Norte High School. For the latter project, Pratchard recruited former San Diego Padres star Adrian Gonzalez, who appeared at a press conference with Pratchard at the school and whose foundation donated ,000, according to the Second Chance Fields website.10News asked the FBI if there was an investigation underway into Pratchard and Second Chance Fields.
