(KGTV) - A peace officer claims he was profiled by Walmart employees Wednesday.Johnny Aguirre says he and his wife went to the Walmart in La Mesa and he was carrying a backpack that he usually carries with him. There are items he carries in his backpack that are related to his job as a peace officer. “We walked in, and I got stopped by two greeters, they told me to put the backpack away int he lockers,” he said.Aguirre says the lockers were empty, so it was standard for all customers. He also says he noticed other people were walking around the store with backpacks.He believes employees singled him out because of the way he looked.“I got that feeling that I was profiled and racially discriminated because of the way I was dressed maybe,” he said. He says he was working all day and he was a little dirty.Walmart sent the following statement to 10News: “We do not tolerate discrimination of any kind. As a company, we’ve taken several steps to help mitigate the issue of crime and the locker system implemented in our Las Mesa store is just one example of our proactive approach. Voters in San Diego County can do so at sdvote.com. Californians in other counties should visit vote.ca.gov.The deadline to register is October 19.The second thing you want to do is make a plan for how you will vote, either by mail or in-person.“Our recommendation, particularly with the pandemic, is to vote by mail in this upcoming election,” said San Diego County Registrar of Voters Michael Vu.Because of the pandemic, election officials are sending mail-in ballots to every active, registered voter in California for the first time in state history. As long as you’re registered by October 19, you’ll get one, Vu said.When you’re making your selections, “clearly mark that ballot, similar to when you’re going to a polling place with an ink pen. Black or blue is preferred,” Vu said.Once filled out, seal the ballot in the pre-paid return envelope and sign the back. Seriously. (KGTV) -- A student shown in a video being thrown to the ground by a school resource officer at Helix High School during a disciplinary matter spoke out for the first time Tuesday.A video recorded by students show 17-year-old Brianna Bell being thrown to the ground while in handcuffs at the school.The incident was sparked after the officer was called to assist with the suspended student reportedly refusing to leave campus.VIDEO: Officer tackles handcuffed 17-year-old student to ground at Helix HS"The student became non-compliant on two separate occasions and made an attempt to free herself by pulling away from the officer," La Mesa Police Department officials wrote in a statement.
