The House Judiciary Committee is prepared to vote next week on a resolution laying out the procedures for its investigation now that it is actively considering moving to impeach President Donald Trump, a major step toward formalizing its sweeping probe, according to multiple sources familiar with the effort.The vote, which is expected to occur on Wednesday, will lay out the ground rules for conducting hearings now that the committee has publicly announced it is considering recommending articles of impeachment against Trump. It is expected to follow the precedent set in 1974 over the committee's procedures during then-President Richard Nixon's impeachment proceedings.Sources told CNN on Friday that the resolution is expected to spell out that Chairman Jerry Nadler, a New York Democrat, has the authority to call hearings at either the full committee or subcommittee level in connection with its impeachment deliberations.The resolution, sources say, is expected to make clear that future House Judiciary hearings can be conducted in ways different from most congressional hearings since the panel is considering impeachment. For instance, the resolution is expected to authorize committee staff counsels to question witnesses, something that is typically not done at congressional hearings.The resolution also will spell out how secret grand jury information can be reviewed in classified sessions. The Army Corp of Engineers is looking at more than 300 facilities nationwide that it could turn into hospitals.New York City’s Javits Convention Center opened as a temporary hospital on Monday. Thousands of beds are now set up to receive patients who are not suffering from COVID-19.The field hospital is staffed with hospital units from Fort Campbell and Fort Hood.Wayne Brackin, the CEO of Kidz Medical Services, has experience with field hospitals and hospital hurricane responses in Florida. He says the Army can set up a field hospital in just weeks. “It will have the feeling of being in a mass unit,” said Brackin. “You'll come into a different kind of facility. They'll be higher levels of security. You're clearly in most cases going to be going into a structure that's been built and will have a lot of components that will look like a very sophisticated version of a tent.”Brackin says an advantage of an existing structure is it's typically climate controlled.The Army is sending field hospitals to Washington state and New Jersey. It says they'll be running by April 2.Navy hospital ships that arrived in New York and outside Los Angeles have started accepting non-COVID-19 patients.A field hospital also opened Tuesday in New York City’s Central Park. It's run by Christian humanitarian aid organization Samaritan's Purse. The Bombacinos and their son, AJ, have learned a lot the past eight years."We were thrown into this world of special needs feeding that we never really expected," mother Julie Bombacino says. When AJ was only 6 months old, he had a 45-minute seizure. It was then that doctors placed a feeding tube in his stomach and prescribed him formula. But his reaction to the formula created a new kind of problem. "Those first five, six months of him being on a feeding tube, it was constant nausea and vomiting and constipation for him, and he was just miserable," Julie says. "He also wasn't growing like he was supposed to be, and we were miserable, and we were scared."So the Bombacinos started researching and found a community that was blending whole food instead of formula.Brian Liebenow is one of those people using whole food. "Probably 2012 up [until] now, I've been blending my food," he says.Liebenow is an Air Force veteran, who travels the world. But back in 2003, doctors found lymphoma in his tonsils, leading to rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. Now, he's cancer-free, but the radiation severely damaged his jawbone. "The last jaw surgery I had in 2009 cut a nerve, and I wasn't able to swallow again after that," Liebenow says.
