First Lady-elect Dr. Jill Biden took to Twitter to respond to a Wall Street Journal opinion-editorial column in which the author called on the incoming First Lady to drop "Dr." before her name."Together, we will build a world where the accomplishments of our daughters will be celebrated, rather than diminished," Dr. Biden tweeted Sunday. 347

Following President Donald Trump's rally in West Virginia on Tuesday evening, Aerosmith's frontman Steven Tyler was not pleased that the president used an Aerosmith song before the rally. On Wednesday, a rep for Tyler sent Trump a cease and desist letter to stop using Tyler's music during rallies, according to a copy of the letter obtained by CNN reporter Jim Acosta. The letter was filed by the LaPolt Law firm in West Hollywood, Calif. “By using ‘Livin’ On The Edge’ without our client’s permission, Mr. Trump is falsely implying that our client, once again, endorses his campaign and/or his presidency, as evidenced by actual confusion seen from the reactions of our client’s fans all over social media,” the letter stated. The letter indicates that Aerosmith has previously sent Trump orders to stop using the band's music. On Tuesday, "Livin' On The Edge" was played before the president appeared on stage. “What makes this violation even more egregious is that Mr. Trump’s use of our client’s music was previously shut down, not once, but two times, during his campaign for presidency,” the letter states.Tyler is not the only artist who has sent Trump a letter ordering him to stop playing their music at rallies. For instance, during the 2016 Republican National Convention, Queen asked for Trump and RNC to stop playing its music.  1374

Feeling lucky? Employees of United Airlines weren't.On Monday, United quickly shelved plans to replace quarterly employee bonuses with a 0,000 lottery prize, after a stinging backlash from its workforce. The lottery, which the airline announced on Friday, would have paid 0,000 to one lucky employee selected at random, and smaller bonuses of ,000 or ,000 to about 1,300 more. Other employees would have gotten prizes including 50 vacation packages or 10 Mercedes. The overwhelming majority of United's 90,000 workers would have lost bonuses that paid up to ,500 over the course of the year."Our intention was to introduce a better, more exciting program, but we misjudged how these changes would be received by many of you," said Scott Kirby, president of United Continental, the holding company for the airline, in an email to employees. "We are pressing the pause button," he wrote.Experts on compensation and workplace culture said they had never heard of a company of United's size and stature trying this kind of lottery program."I really thought it was a joke when I first heard of it," said Tom Gimbel, founder and CEO of LaSalle Network, a national staffing and recruiting firm. "It's very amateurish."The backlash and reversal comes while United is negotiating a new union contract with its pilots. The union wasn't happy with the lottery."This just puts a bad taste in our mouths," said Roger Phillips, a United pilot and spokesman for the pilots union at the airline. 1497

For many millennials, the dream of homeownership was far off. But one of the most unusual yet positive fallouts from the coronavirus pandemic has been some younger adults seeing the value of low-cost living."I'm fortunate to have been able to save during the pandemic," Paige Feingenbaum said. The 34-year-old was able to keep her job during the pandemic."I know have five digits in my bank account," she said. "I just personally never thought that could be possible for me."She's in a much better financial position and able to move forward as a first-time homebuyer. WPTV "I'm able to save so much money by not going to ticketed events, not going to movies, not eating at restaurants, spending so much more time at home," Paige Feingenbaum says. "I'm able to save so much money by not going to ticketed events, not going to movies, not eating at restaurants, spending so much more time at home," she said.Bonnie Heatzig, a South Florida Realtor, said her clients have shared that COVID-19 taught some valuable life lessons."Life under lockdown has definitely changed the financial habits of a lot of millennials. Two out of three millennials are also saying the lockdown had a positive effect on their savings," she said. "In the pre-COVID period, there was a tremendous amount of social pressure on millennials to go to the right restaurants. They memorialized their evenings out on social media. There was this fear of missing out."Now, the value of homeownership is back. Zoom "Life under lockdown has definitely changed the financial habits of a lot of millennials," South Florida real estate agent Bonnie Heatzig says. "Circles back to the importance of loving the space you are in," Heatzig said.Feingenbaum now wonders if she'll be more of a homebody."Which is enabling them to make that down payment," Heatzig said. But it's not necessarily an easy market for buyers."It's a very strong seller's market," she said. "The inventory is very low."Part of that spreads beyond new first-time buyers to "people who are looking to relocate to South Florida from crowded metropolitan areas," Heatzig said. It's a new yet crowded field in the South Florida real estate market. This story was first reported by Tory Dunnan at WPTV in West Palm Beach, Florida. 2344
