NEW YORK (AP) — Pacific Gas & Electric says its equipment may have ignited the 2018 Camp Fire, which killed 86 people and destroyed an entire town in Northern California.The embattled utility, which filed for bankruptcy protection in January, said Thursday it's taking a .5 billion charge for claims connected to the Camp Fire in its fourth quarter earnings.The cause of the Camp Fire, the deadliest in California history, is still under investigation. But firefighters located the start of the fire near a tower on PG&E's Caribou-Palermo transmission line. PG&E says that transmission line lost power right before the fire and was later found to be damaged."We recognize that more must be done to adapt to and address the increasing threat of wildfires and extreme weather in order to keep our customers and communities safe," said John Simon, interim CEO of PG&E, in a statement. "We are taking action now on important safety and maintenance measures identified through our accelerated and enhanced safety inspections and will continue to keep our regulators, customers and investors informed of our efforts."PG&E also recorded a new billion charge related to the 2017 wildfires in Northern California, saying it still estimates it is facing wildfire liabilities in excess of billion.Citing extraordinary challenges from wildfires, PG&E's management concluded the circumstances "raise substantial doubt about PG&E Corporation's and the Utility's ability to continue as going concerns."PG&E also said there was an outage and downed wires in another location, called Big Bend, that morning. North Wind Heating and Air is a local family-run business proudly serving Macomb County for 28 years. Lisa Agostino signed a work order approving both a service call and repairs to her a/c unit. The part was installed that same day. After the part was installed she reached out to North Wind stating that she no longer agreed with the price of the replaced part. Ms. Agostino was offered a solution to the dispute. She agreed that the part would be returned to North Wind. In turn Ms. Agostino would not be charged. This is what occurred. Ms. Agostino has not been charged for the service call or the replacement part.Days later Ms. Agostino posted false statements about North Wind on-line. She represents that she paid for the service call and replacement part, which she did not. These statements significantly effected North Wind's business. North Wind is a small local business. Ms. Agostino's false and defamatory statements have not only effected the North Wind's business, but has had a direct negative effect on its ability to offer full time hours to its employees.Prior to filing the lawsuit North Wind reached out to Ms. Agostino requesting the removal of the false statements. Nine children have been reported dead at a New Jersey nursing home in the last week, at least eight from viruses that cause respiratory illness, the state health department said.The ninth victim, described as "medically fragile with respiratory illness" by the Wanaque Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Haskell, died late Saturday night at a hospital, the state health department said in a statement. It is awaiting laboratory confirmation of adenoviruses in a child who died Friday.The viruses are known to persist on unclean surfaces and medical instruments, and may not be eliminated by common disinfectants, but they rarely cause severe illness in healthy people. Those with weakened immune systems, though, have a higher risk for severe disease and may remain infectious long after they recover, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says. They are common in places with large groups of children, such as child-care settings, schools and summer camps.There have been 25 confirmed pediatric adenovirus cases at Wanaque, including the eight child deaths.
