SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The mother of a Cathedral Catholic High School student who sold prescription drugs to minors and marijuana to teenagers pleaded guilty Wednesday.Kimberly Dawn Quach, 49, pleaded guilty to the felony charges, including furnishing Xanax to a minor. Quach now faces between eight and 11 years, eight months in prison.Quach’s live-in companion, William Sipperley III, 50, also pleaded guilty to using a minor to transport marijuana and furnishing to a minor over 14-years-old.RELATED: Mom accused of providing drugs to Cathedral Catholic students  Quach was arrested in 2017 after police said she sold or offered suboxone, an opiate, and Xanax to minors starting in January of 2017.Police also say that Quach gave at least 10 teenagers marijuana to sell, package or transport. Cathedral Catholic students regularly smoked marijuana Sipperley grew at the couples Carmel Valley home.One detective said Quach had as many as 70 teenage clients at the Catholic school and at other schools.During a search of her home, police found large containers of marijuana, plant food, grow lights and drug paraphernalia. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The all-clear was given after a suspicious device forced the evacuation of a building at San Diego City College Monday. The device was reported Monday afternoon in or near Building A, according to the school. The building serves as administrative offices. The college says no classes were affected by the evacuation. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The Metropolitan Transit System has launched an initiative to keep their buses and trolleys clean and their riders and employees safe.MTS officials said their ridership has dropped 75 percent since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. Now, with officials are seeing a recent uptick in riders, the agency is implementing new health and safety measures.Nikki Jefferson has relied on the trolley to get to work for the last three years. When the cases of COVID-19 started popping up around San Diego County, she was nervous about getting back on board.“I still use hand sanitizer after my last stop, anytime I touch the button,” Jefferson said.To help control the spread of COVID-19, the MTS is now cleaning their 800 buses and 135 trolley cars twice a day. MTS is even using the deep-cleaning fogging technique to disinfect high-touch areas.Additionally, hand-washing stations are installed at their 54 transit stops and plexiglass barriers protect bus drivers from passengers.When on a bus or trolley, passengers are urged to practice social distancing whenever possible.Officials said all riders on buses or trolleys, and riders at stops or stations, will be required to wear face masks or coverings.MTS CEO Sharon Cooney said, “We’re going to educate all of our customers so that they know you can’t come on board without as mask for some kind of face covering.”It’s a move Jefferson agrees with as she spends most of her time riding the trolley.“It makes me feel safer and less of a chance that I’m going to catch COVID-19, since I have to go to work, but I don’t want to bring it to work with me or have it around me,” said Jefferson.MTS officials said they will educate the public about the face coverings. Some staff will also have face coverings on hand. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Supporters of Poway Unified School District kicked off a campaign Tuesday night in support of Measure P on the March ballot, which would provide 8 million meant to be spent on facilities across the distict's 39 schools. This is the first time PUSD has asked voters to approve a bond since the infamous "billion dollar bond", which many critics call a debacle which taxpayers will be on the hook for for decades.“We have leaky roofs," Superintendent Marian Kim Phelps told 10News during an interview Tuesday. "We have rusty pipes. We have tile that’s falling apart. We have high schools that have sewage spilling up into the room.” Phelps says a recent study commissioned by the district reported that 63% of the school campuses will be rated in "poor condition" by 2023. She also says a bond is the best option because the state of California does not provide money for facilities.RELATED: Poway Unified brings students together in pilot program with new approach to special education“What most people don’t understand and realize is we don’t receive any funding from the state. And so we also are one of the lowest funded school districts in the county, so we do a lot with a lot less.” Phelps says she understands why taxpayers may be hesitant to fund another bond measure. It was later revealed that because of the way the bond was financed, the 5 million loan would accrue 7 million in interest, meaning taxpayers are on the hook for nearly billion. The bill for that will begin to be paid in 2023 and continue for 40 years.Phelps points out that the entire leadership that approved "the billion dollar bond" has been replaced and that the new team has worked hard to repair Poway Unified's finances in recent years.
