(KGTV) - Disney fans will be able to get their fill of toys, games, accessories, clothing, and other merchandise this fall at 25 Target stores nationwide. The entertainment giant is opening what it describes as “shop-in-shop” locations starting in October, according to Target officials. Disney’s store experience in Target will include music, interactive displays, photo ops, and a Disney movie clip screening area. 450 items will be available, including 100 products that were previously only available at Disney retail locations, Target officials say. (CNN) -- The wildflower super bloom that brought magnificent swaths of color and hordes of lookie-loos to California is coming to an end.The city of Lake Elsinore on Monday declared, with more than a little relief, that the super bloom is nearly over, with the hillsides fading from orange to green as poppies drop their petals and begin to wither.The poppies are no longer visible from Interstate 15, so visitors now have to hike more than a mile to see what's left of the flower display, city officials said."We survived the poppy apocalypse!" the city posted on its Instagram page."The Super Bloom has been unlike any event we have ever experienced before," Mayor Steve Manos said in a news release. "The extreme beauty of our hillsides that drew attention from around the world is now diminishing quickly, and our residents sure are eager for things to get back to normal."The flowers could be seen from space, but thousands of people came to Walker Canyon in Lake Elsinore to get a closer look.The spectacle was so popular that authorities at one point restricted access to Walker Canyon because tourists were jamming traffic, crushing flowers and overflowing toilets.Just 4,658 visitors used the Walker Canyon shuttle last weekend, down from 12,062 the prior weekend, city officials said.Flower fans can still get their super bloom fix in other parts of the state, though.Blooms at the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve, in Los Angeles County, are expected to continue through April, officials there said.They urged visitors to stay on the trails to avoid crushing the delicate flowers and to leave dogs, bikes and drones at home.A couple last month landed a helicopter in the reserve to skip the lines. (CNN) -- Lifeguards in Huntington Beach, California, were reminding swimmers to shuffle their feet when they go into the ocean after 176 people were stung by stingrays in just one day.A record number of people were stung on Saturday, authorities told CNN affiliate KTLA.It may sound like a scene from a monster movie, but the rays weren't on a stabby rampage attacking beachgoers' lower legs.Warm weather brought lots of people to the beach during low tide."When you have people in the water with lower tides like that, they make their way out to where the stingrays reside and, unfortunately, people step on the stingrays and that's when they get stung," Lt. Eric Dieterman of the fire department's Marine Safety Division told KTLA.Lifeguards had people soak their injuries in bags of warm water to help ease the pain from the stings.There were fewer people in the water on Sunday after the weather got cooler, KTLA reported, and the number of stings went down.Dieterman said lifeguards warned people to stay out of the water through Monday.Stingrays are flat, bottom-dwellers that like to hang out partially covered in the sand in shallow, temperate waters.Their primary defense is camouflage, but they will sting if stepped on or disturbed. That's why experts recommend swimmers shuffle their feet when they walk in the water to produce vibrations that scare the rays away.Stingray injuries can usually be treated with warm water, antibiotics to prevent infections and possibly a tetanus shot, according to SeaGrant California. In rare cases, a doctor may have to remove a stinger if it breaks off in the wound.Legendary television star and conservationist Steve Irwin died in 2006 when a stingray barb went into his chest while he was filming a documentary in Australia.Huntington Beach resident Lee Perkins told KTLA that he was stung two weeks ago and that the wound got infected."It's definitely a searing nerve pain and it's pretty intense," Perkins said.Perkins said he's grateful that his 10-year-old son, who was swimming nearby, wasn't stung. 2062

(KGTV) - A Valley Center woman and her son are dead in an apparent drunk-driving crash in Austin, Texas that injured the woman’s husband and daughter.KVUE reported Guy Brasted, 41, was driving drunk and crossed the median of U.S. 183 on Saturday afternoon. Brasted’s Jeep struck a Fiat sedan, police said.Nancy Latulippe and her 14-year-old son Jackson died on impact. Latulippe’s husband Scott is in critical condition, relatives said. The couple’s daughter Keira was not seriously injured, according to relatives.The family issued a statement which said they "thank the community for their prayers and support. The family is surrounding Kiera with support. We continue to pray for Scotty's recovery. Nancy and Jackson are in our thoughts and prayers as we move forward. Scotty continues to fight.
