SAN YSIDRO (CNS) - A 61-year-old man who ran into a street in San Ysidro, tripped and fell, was run over by an SUV and killed, authorities said this morning.The man exited a business in the 500 block of E. San Ysidro Boulevard at 2:05 p.m. Friday and as he reached the asphalt of the street, tripped and fell face first and was run over by a Cadillac Escalade pulling out of an adjacent parking lot, Officer Robert Heims of the San Diego Police Department said.The pedestrian, who was not identified, sustained fatal injuries, Heims said. 546

SEATTLE (KGTV) -- Newly released body camera footage shows the moment police officers nabbed a pair of thieves trying to walk out of a Seattle-area Costco carrying ,200 worth of laptops and vacuums.On March 14, South Precinct officers responded to a call at about 5:30 p.m. of a shoplift in progress at the Costco, police said. Loss Prevention officers inside the store recognized one of the suspects inside and said he had previously stolen items in the past and run out the fire exit. Responding Seattle Police Department officers spotted a female driver inside a black Toyota that was backed up to the store's emergency exit doors.  The officers pulled their patrol vehicle in front of the Toyota to prevent it from leaving and contacted the 18-year-old woman, police said.As police were talking with the woman, they could hear someone attempting to open the doors."Moments later, two suspects, a 30-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman opened the emergency doors and attempted to walk out of the store carrying stolen computers and vacuum cleaners," police said.Officers located a 7″ fixed blade from the male suspect. According to the security personnel, the suspect had carried a large knife in past incidents.The male suspect was later booked into the King County Jail for investigation of robbery, while the two women were booked for investigation of theft, police said. 1428

SAN ONOFRE (CNS) - Two separate vehicle collisions along the southbound San Diego (5) Freeway today near the San Onofre Nuclear Plant, with possible injuries, were under investigation, authorities said.The California Highway Patrol was first alerted of a non-injury crash at 1:10 a.m., a dispatcher at the CHP's Border Communications Center confirmed.Later, officers learned that a more serious collision occurred, the dispatcher confirmed.The Camp Pendleton Fire Department was called to respond, but the extent of any injuries was unclear. 549

SAN MARCOS, Calif. (KGTV) – Authorities have identified the victim and suspect after a man and a woman were found dead in a San Marcos home Monday. The Medical Examiner identified the victim as Michelle Johnson, 43, as the victim and Tiko Leal, 49, as the suspect. Deputies were called to the home on the 1000 block of Lanza Court early Monday morning after receiving reports of unknown trouble. Neighbors told deputies that two children, ages 10 and 11, were inside the home and afraid to come out. After entering the home, Johnson and Leal were found unresponsive with trauma to their bodies, according to the department. (KGTV) - An animal rights group is suing an organization purporting to be an animal rescue for allegedly violating a new California law.ALDF claims that Bark Adoptions, registered to an address in Menifee, Calif. has been supplying dogs to pet stores in “an unlawful scheme to sell and launder puppy mill puppies .”They claim it violates AB 485, a California law that was enacted on January 1 of 2019, sometimes referred to as the “Puppy Mill Ban.”The law prohibits pet stores from selling animals from breeders, instead, only allowing stores to sell dogs from shelters or rescue groups.The law specifically states that a “rescue group” must have tax-exempt status as a 501(c)(3) organization by the IRS. Furthermore, it must be in a “cooperative agreement with at least one private or public shelter.”In February, 10News reported that Bark Adoptions had been supplying dogs to stores in San Diego County and Riverside County. Undercover video from the animal rights group, Companion Animal Protection Society, showed young, apparently purebred and designer puppies being sold for thousands of dollars.10News obtained interstate certificates of veterinary inspection that showed Bark Adoptions was getting the 8-10 week old puppies shipped from another purported rescue in Iowa, called Rescue Pets Iowa.The investigation by ALDF followed the same trail and alleged the defendants conveyed “those puppies to pet stores for profit.”“This is what we’re alleging in our lawsuit, that it amounts to nothing short of a puppy laundering operation that we’re gonna try to stop with a court order,” said Christopher Berry, a staff attorney with ALDF.10News reached out to Lara Abuzeid, an attorney for Bark Adoptions, but did not receive any comment on the lawsuit. 1788
