SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 26-year-old motorcyclist was killed Saturday after losing control of his bike, hitting the center median curb and continuing across the lanes of Scripps Poway Parkway in the Miramar Ranch area, San Diego police said.The crash took place on the Scripps Poway Parkway, near 11800 Spruce Run Dr., at 1 a.m., SDPD Officer J. Buttle said.The motorcyclist riding a 2017 Yamaha was moving at a high rate of speed, and failed to negotiate the rightward bend in the road, Buttle said. The man ended up along the south curb line.He was pronounced dead at the scene, Buttle said. SAN DIEGO (CNS) -- A 37-year-old man was fatally shot on the sidewalk near a parking garage in downtown San Diego's East Village neighborhood, police said Wednesday.The shooting was reported at around 10 p.m. Tuesday near the parking garage on G Street between 14th and 15th streets that serves the Albertsons grocery store, San Diego Police Lt. Andra Brown said.Officers responded and found a 37-year-old man lying on the sidewalk at the entrance of the parking garage with at least one apparent gunshot wound, Brown said.The victim, whose name was withheld pending family notification, was pronounced dead at the scene, she said."It is early in the investigation and little is known about the circumstances surrounding the man's death," Brown said.Witnesses reported seeing a man wearing a dark, hooded sweatshirt and a black hat run through the parking garage after the shooting, then turn westbound on Market Street, the lieutenant said. (AP) — A lawsuit filed by the Satanic Temple alleges an advertising company unfairly refused to display billboards promoting a ritual offered by the group to help people bypass abortion rules in some states. The group, based in Salem, Massachusetts, announced Wednesday that it sued Lamar Advertising in Arkansas state court for alleged religious discrimination. The Louisiana-based company did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The Satanic Temple says Lamar refused to display eight billboards in Arkansas and Indiana promoting what the group calls its “religious abortion ritual.” The Satanic Temple describes the ritual as a “sacramental act that confirms the right of bodily autonomy.”By performing the ritual, the group says, people can claim a religious exemption from mandatory waiting periods, counseling, ultrasounds and other measures that some states require before an abortion can be performed.The group says it submitted five designs to Lamar to be displayed near crisis pregnancy centers. In one of the images, a bowl of cake batter is shown with the text, “not a cake,” next to an image of a sperm and egg with the text “not a baby.” It’s accompanied by text saying, “Our religious abortion ritual averts many state restrictions.”Lamar rejected the billboards and said their content was “misleading and offensive,” according to the suit. SAN DIEGO (AP) — Former Congressman Darrell Issa is poised to end a political retirement that started only last year when he lost his seat in a Democratic wave that turned over seven Republican-held California districts. Issa scheduled a news conference for Thursday and will announce he's seeking the seat held by fellow Republican and longtime-U.S. Rep. Duncan Hunter, who is running for re-election while under indictment on corruption charges, said Larry Wilske, a retired Navy SEAL and Republican also running in Hunter's San Diego-area district.In an interview with The Associated Press on Wednesday, Wilske said Issa told him he will run. Wilske plans to drop out and support Issa. Issa's entry will make the district near the U.S.-Mexico border one of the most closely watched races in the country.RELATED: Former Rep.
