SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Law enforcement officials Thursday were asking for the public's help in locating and identifying the suspect involved in two separate armed robberies this month. San Diego County Crime Stoppers was offering a reward of up to ,000 for information on the man, who's believed to have robbed a Game Stop in Serra Mesa on Dec. 19 and a Subway in Kearny Mesa four days later, according to the organization. The man is also believed to have been spotted at another Game Stop on the same day as the Subway robbery. Around 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 19, the suspect entered the Game Stop store on Murphy Canyon Road south of Aero Drive, where he lifted his shirt to display a silver revolver in his waistband and demanded money from the register, according to the Crime Stoppers news release. The clerk complied, and the man left the store on foot. Around 9:20 a.m. on Dec. 23, a man believed to be the same suspect entered the Game Stop on University Avenue east of 44th Street. An employee recognized the man from the earlier robbery and told another worker to call security. The suspect escaped from the store on foot. The same day, at about 11:20 a.m., it's believed that the same suspect entered a Subway restaurant near the intersection of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard and Mercury Street. He ``simulated'' that he had a gun in his waistband and demanded money from the register. The clerk complied, and the man again escaped on foot. The suspect was described as a Hispanic man in his early 30s, about 5-feet-7-inches to 5-feet-9-inches tall and 180 to 200 pounds. In the first case, he was wearing a white construction hat, construction glasses, a dark-blue or black bandana on his head underneath the hat, black pants and black tennis shoes with white soles, Crime Stoppers said.During the second and third cases, the suspect was wearing an Anaheim Angels baseball cap, sunglasses, a dark-colored shirt, black pants and gray tennis shoes. He was also wearing an orange construction vest in the first and third robberies. 2036

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – A sixth robbery suspect was taken into custody following an hours-long SWAT standoff in City Heights Friday afternoon. Police arrived to arrest several suspects on the 3600 block of University Avenue around 11 a.m. Several people were detained, but at least one of the suspects refused to surrender, Sgt. Michael Stirk said. RELATED: Check traffic in your areaUniversity Avenue was shut down for several hours in both directions between 36th Street and Cherokee Avenue due to police activity. Just after 5 p.m., a flash bang could be heard going off near the building. Just before 6:30 p.m. Friday, San Diego Police said all the suspects had been "peacefully taken into custody." The department also said it was working to clear its vehicles out of the area. Captain Anthony Dupree confirmed the suspects were being investigated for a string of about 20 robberies throughout the mid-city region, extending into La Mesa and El Cajon as well. Several of the suspects arrested Thursday were thought to be involved in a robbery Thursday night near the SDSU campus, said Dupree.Suspects were peacefully taken into custody and we are currently working on moving our vehicles out of the street to open up traffic. "Right now, he's probably in his PJs watching cable news, reaching for his cell phone/ In the middle of the night from the privacy of a gold-plated white toilet seat, he's writing Liddle Bob Corker, NFL and covfefe."Those are lyrics from Brad Paisley's fake remix of Carrie Underwood's smash hit, "Before He Cheats," which the pair performed to a laughing audience while hosting the 51st Annual Country Music Association Awards in Nashville Wednesday night, where they mocked President Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton and other political figures in a series of musical zingers."And it's fun to watch, yeah, that's for sure, until Little Rocket Man starts a nuclear war, and then maybe next time he'll think before he tweets," Paisley continued singing, poking fun at Trump's Twitter habits and the President's nickname for North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. 861

LAKESIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - A 2-year-old pit bull is being called a hero after five strangers burst into an apartment in Lakeside and attacked his owner.Early Friday morning at the Julian Estates apartments, Ed Neumeister was sound asleep. His rescue dog Hitch was with him in bed. Neumeister's brother was in his own bedroom, awake and gaming."Someone was taking off the screen and sliding the window open," said Neumeister.Neumeister says his older brother heard a noise, and saw a man in his 20s crawling through his bedroom window. He was followed by four others, including a woman. All reeked of alcohol."They told him, 'We have a gun. We have a knife. We're looking for Eric with two dogs," said Neumeister. His brother told them they were at the wrong place. While four of them left the room, the man who remained threatened their pets."He said, 'Do you mind if we kill your animals?'" said Neumeister.Moments, the four intruders were kicking at Neumeister's bedroom door. "I wake up, and I'm being dragged off my bed into the living room," said Neumeister. His memory is hazy, but he says the four intruders pummeled his face for several minutes, leaving him with a black eye, cuts and scrapes. The woman bit his arm, leaving teeth marks. But she wasn't the only one biting. The numerous cuts on his pit bull's body and face - likely from a knife - reveal the struggle as the normally gentle Hitch defended his owner, eventually chasing off the burglars. After they took off, Hitch chased them down the street. Deputies later found him injured - and a hero in the eyes of his owner."So proud of him. He saved us really. Could have been a lot worse," said Neumeister.Neumeister says the female burglar had blond hair with blue extensions and dreadlocks. If you have any information, call the Lakeside sheriff's substation at 619-938-1360. 1848

(AP) -- Bigotry toward Asian Americans and Asian food has spread steadily alongside the coronavirus in the United States. Distorted information about the virus that first appeared in China has led to a revival of century-old tropes about Asian food being dirty. Social media has been flooded with racist memes portraying Chinese people as bat eaters responsible for spreading COVID-19. A coalition of advocacy groups said earlier this year that it had received more than 2,500 reports of hate and discrimination against Asian Americans across the country. In addition, Asian American businesses have been among those hardest hit by the economic downturn resulting from the pandemic. 690
