WATCH THE LAUNCH:(KGTV and CNN) - Friday morning's launch of a SpaceX rocket from the Central California coast will be a notable one for Elon Musk's out-of-orbit efforts.A Falcon 9 rocket is scheduled to blast off from Vandenberg Air Force Base at 7:13 a.m. PT. WASHINGTON (AP) — The Department of Homeland Security is moving 1 million from FEMA, the Coast Guard and other agencies to fund immigration detention beds and support its policy forcing asylum seekers to wait in Mexico.Homeland Security officials say they will transfer 5 million for temporary hearing spaces along the U.S.-Mexico border to help hear asylum cases faster. They will also transfer 6 million to fund Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention bed space, though Congress specifically did not authorize additional ICE funding.Democratic House lawmakers are objecting. The chair of the Homeland Security Appropriations subcommittee says the change would support "inhumane" programs and take away necessary funding for other agencies.The news comes as hurricane season is ramping up and Tropical Storm Dorian is barreling toward South Florida. 873

We're about a month from thanksgiving and Dr. Anthony Fauci is warning that we may need to change our plans with COVID-19 cases increasing.His three adult daughters aren't coming home because they're worried about exposing their dad, who's 79 years old.Dr. Syra Madad has been a leader in the response to the coronavirus in New York. She says nationwide we are in the third peak of the virus but still in the first wave. It's the first wave, because cases never went down enough to reach the baseline.“I think everybody, including myself, we are all tired of COVID-19,” said Madad. “We're all tired of constantly socially distancing, wearing a mask, but this is our new normal. This is our reality, and this is what we have to do to not only protect ourselves, but our family, our loved ones and our community.”She says it is possible to see family or friends safely for the holidays, but you have to plan ahead. First, she recommends quarantining for 14 days before you see them.“Testing does not give you a free pass in terms of, OK I’ve tested negative, that means I don't have to quarantine for 14 days. That means I can safely merge my social bubble. That is absolutely not the case,” said Madad.She also says you need to consider if anyone you are visiting is high risk and do your homework about the area you are traveling to. How many cases have there been in a week to two-week period? WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) says it’s sticking with its July 15 deadline for Americans to file and pay their federal taxes.The original filing deadline and payment due date for 2019 was postponed from April 15 to July 15 due to the coronavirus pandemic.However, the IRS says taxpayers who are unable to meet the July 15 deadline can request an automatic extension of time to file until Oct. 15. You can file for an extension here.Those filing for an extension must do so by July 15. The IRS says the extension provides additional time to file a tax return, but it’s not an extension to pay any taxes due.The IRS urges people who owe taxes, even if they have a filing extension, to carefully review their situation and pay what they can by July 15 to avoid penalties and interest.“The IRS understands that those affected by the coronavirus may not be able to pay their balances in full by July 15, but we have many payment options to help taxpayers,” said IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig. “These easy-to-use payment options are available on IRS.gov, and most can be done automatically without reaching out to an IRS representative.”While the deadline for federal taxes remains on April 15, states may have different deadlines for their taxes.
