During Thanksgiving weekend in 2003, President George W. Bush wanted to spend part of the holiday with active service members in Iraq. It took an immense amount of planning by a very small, trusted group around the President to make sure Bush would make it back to the United States safely. The mission for Bush to secretly land in Iraq came just months after a joint coalition of nations, including the United States, overthrew the regime of Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein.Making the covert trek to the Middle East has since been copied by President Barack Obama, and on Wednesday, President Donald Trump. For Bush’s mission, it was not until after Air Force One was in the sky that the public was notified. Bush had to sneak out of his Crawford, Texas, ranch and fly to Washington, D.C. to get on Air Force One, which was disguised as a civilian jet. As the plane neared Iraq, all the lights went out inside Air Force One, and the window shades were lowered. At 5:30 p.m. Baghdad time, Air Force One had landed in Iraq. Bush had two and a half hours to meet with nearly 600 troops celebrating Thanksgiving before he had to be back in the air. Bush told reporters that had any word of the visit leaked, he would have had to turn around. "I was fully prepared to turn this baby around and come home," he said. "Three hours out, I checked with our Secret Service and checked with the people on the ground. They assured me that we still had a tight hold on the information."On Wednesday, Trump made his first visit to a combat zone, meeting with troops in Iraq. Trump said from Baghdad he was concerned about the safety of those accompanying him to Iraq. “I had concerns about the institution of the presidency,” Trump said. “Not for myself personally. I had concerns for the First Lady, I will tell you. But if you would have seen what we had to go through with the darkened plane with all windows closed with no lights on whatsoever, anywhere. Pitch black. I've never seen it- I've been on many airplanes. All types and shapes and sizes. I've never seen anything like it.”Despite the secrecy that went into Trump’s voyage, there were rumors circulating on social media involving a possible Trump visit to the Middle East. While Bush’s visit did not have to content with rumors via Twitter, some on the social media platform reported sightings of Air Force One over Europe. Now, I'm not saying Trump is currently heading to the Middle East to visit troops. BUT...There's been some interesting aircraft movements the last couple of days. Some I've already tweeted... And a VC-25A has been reported over the UK earlier today. Watch this space! ??— CivMilAir ??????? (@CivMilAir) 2685

DETROIT — Family Video is one of the last surviving video stores in the country. And they're trying a new tactic to bring people into the store: selling CBD products. “It’s been crazy,” said Erin Gardner, the store manager of the Family Video in Waterford Township, Michigan.Gardner says the owner of Family Video, Keith Hoogland, tried CBD balm to help with his tennis elbow. It worked so well for him, he wanted to share the benefits of CBD products with Family Video customers. Right now, there are around 76 stores in Michigan selling CBD products, and it’s expected to launch at all 100 stores in Michigan by the end of this week.CBD, or cannabidiol, is the non-psychoactive ingredient of cannabis plants and can be extracted from the two strains of cannabis, both hemp and marijuana. CBD oil has been found in lotions, creams and food. And although the only CBD products officially approved by the US Food and Drug Administration is a prescription oil called Epidiolex, proponents say it can have many health benefits for humans and pets.Family Video’s products are THC-free.“Some other CBD products have traces of THC in it, and then you’ll fail drug tests. So, taking ours, it’s just 100 percent THC-free,” Gardner said.He says people are coming in not only for the CBD, but to pick up a movie, giving people a sense of nostalgia. “People kind of forget that we are even here sometimes I think or even a young generation doesn’t come in here sometimes. This is bringing everyone in and they are realizing 'wait a second, this is really cool in here and I miss it from my childhood,' ” he said.Out of 1620

Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross violated his ethics agreement and submitted a financial disclosure form that "was not accurate," according to the Office of Government Ethics.Emory Rounds, the director of the Office of Government Ethics, wrote that Ross reported in his annual financial disclosure that he sold bank stock that other reports indicate he did not sell. That meant "the filer was therefore not in compliance with his ethics agreement at the time of the report," Rounds wrote. The watchdog group that drew attention to the report, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, said OGE declining to certify a report "does not normally happen.""With OGE declining to certify, that's a pretty giant red flag," the group's spokesman, Jordan Libowitz, told CNN.Richard Painter, a former ethics attorney for President George W. Bush, told CNN he has never seen a Cabinet member's financial disclosure form rejected in this way.Instead, he said, agencies sometimes send a draft financial disclosure form to OGE for review. If issues arise, they are dealt with behind the scenes. Painter believes the fact that the Ross matter wasn't handled this way is a sign OGE is trying to send a strong message to Ross. The document is a routine financial disclosure form posted online by OGE. The decision to decline it is dated February 15.In a letter to the Commerce Department's in-house ethics official, Rounds wrote the 2018 financial disclosure report is "not accurate" and that Ross is "not in compliance with his ethics agreement at the time of the report." Rounds also wrote that it is his understanding that Ross's paperwork was being sent to the inspector general's office for review.Ross said in a statement, "While I am disappointed that my report was not certified, I remain committed to complying with my ethics agreement and adhering to the guidance of Commerce ethics officials." 1906

DENVER, Colo. – Colorado leaders are connecting relatively small businesses with the idea of making big, positive impacts on the environment.“Cannabis and beer, this is the perfect thing,” said Charlie Berger, the co-founder of Denver Beer Co. Berger’s team is taking part in the state’s pilot program in which his brewery captures its own carbon dioxide and sells it to marijuana growers.“It’s a really cool opportunity for us to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions,” he said. “Talking about two of Colorado’s, really the epitome of our state’s small business environment, is an easy one to talk about.”And it’s a relatively easy process. This brewery captures the Co2 emitted during the fermentation process, stores it in a machine, then ships it off to pot growers where it’s used to help with their harvests.“In front of me is Earthly Labs Co2 capture system,” said Amy George, Earthly Labs CEO. “It has the potential to capture the equivalent of 15,000 trees a year for our craft brewers.”George says this technology was once only available to really large brewers. Her team recently designed a more affordable carbon capturing process for smaller craft brewers, with the goal of reducing a billion metric tons of waste while basically turning IPA into THC.“Climate change is in front of us,” George said. “It’s important to for us to think of all the ways we can invest in technology or change our behavior to meet the needs of future generations.”And it meets the needs of The Clinic, a cannabis company based in Denver.Chris Baca, the operations manager at The Clinic, says this technology will help reduce his company’s carbon footprint – while increasing its yield of the sticky icky.“It’s always good to be ahead of the curve and with something that every grow room uses so much of it; think it’s a great opportunity,” he said. It’s an opportunity to turn what would be waste into a gas needed to grow weed.“Co2 is pretty much used in a combination with the lights to create the photosynthesis process of plants,” Baca said. With thousands of craft breweries across the country and more states legalizing marijuana, this technology is creating an environmental big buzz between beer and buds. 2214
