"Spending five months fighting for my money, yeah it's great that that money will continue on if I do lose my job, yeah 0 a week will help, but I don't know if I'll see that money either so I'm just hoping my restaurant stays open."Twenty-five percent of the 0 a week for unemployed Americans is supposed to come from the state. In California, Dr. Gin says that's money we don't have, "tax revenues are down considerably with economic activity reduced, both the income tax and the sales tax." Coli during visits to the San Diego County Fair this summer have filed claims against the company that operates the fair.Attorneys representing the families of Jedidiah King Cabezuela, Cristiano Lopez, and Ryan Sadrabadi filed legal documents on Monday."Our investigation has already turned enough information for us to determine that these illnesses were entirely preventable," said Ron Simon, one of the attorneys representing the families.County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency confirmed 11 cases of E. Coli, all of which involve children ranging in age from two to 13. The outbreak was traced to children that visited the animal areas or the petting zoo, or had other animal contact at the fair, county health officials previously reported, and that the illnesses had no link to any food facilities the children accessed.2-year-old Jedidiah King Cabezuela, from National City, suffered stomach problems four days after visiting the fair on June 15 despite washing his hands following a stop at the petting zoo, a family member told 10News. E. Coli can incubate over a period of 10 days.Over the next three days, Jedidiah was in and out of the emergency room before the symptoms worsened. His kidneys began failing, and he died from Shiga-toxin-producing E. Coli June 24.On June 28, fair officials closed public access to all animal areas at the livestock barn on the eastern side of the Del Mar Fairgrounds."The Cabezuelas, the Lopez's, and the Sadrabadis took their families to the fair expecting to have a good time," said Ben Coughlan of Gomez Trial Attorneys. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The City of San Diego and the San Diego Housing Commission announced details about a planned purchase of two hotels to convert into permanent housing for the homeless.After a six-month search, city officials announced the purchase of the Residence Inns in Mission Valley and Kearny Mesa. The price tag: 6.5 million.Scott Marshall of the San Diego Housing Commission says the project draws upon city, county and state funds to turn hotel rooms into 332 affordable apartments for the homeless, many of them currently staying at the convention center as part of the program, Operation Shelter To Home."This is not temporary shelter. They are permanent homes that will provide them a path out of the shelter and off the streets," said Marshall.Marshall says of the 29 sites considered, the two Residence Inns stood out."They were operating as hotels and in good condition. They didn't require a lot of work for people to move in," said Marshall.Federal housing vouchers will help residents with part of the rent. They'll also receive a host of wraparound services."Things like health care, Life skills training and employment assistance to help them get back on their feet and to a more stabile life," said Marshall.The hotels turned apartments reside in commercial areas, with many other motels and hotels as neighbors. SDSU marketing professor Miro Copic says any issues at the sites could turn into pubic relations problems."Tourists and travel agents could see it as a negative, and it may turn away people from the area. The city has to manage this effectively. Everyone living in the country regardless of age, race, and citizenship status is asked to fill the survey out. But San Diego and Imperial Counties are notoriously difficult to get an accurate count, the second most challenging region in the entire country. For the 2020 census, over 100 community organizations and civic groups in San Diego are working together to reach "hard to count" populations.“Some of the ethnic groups are the ones that are hard to count, such as the African Americans, the Hispanic, Asian Pacific Islanders, as well as immigrant and refugee populations are really hard to count," said Nancy Sasaki, President & CEO of United Way of San Diego County.United Way of San Diego County is leading the Count Me 2020 campaign. Sasaki went on to say veterans, homeless people, and children are often left out too.
