LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. (AP) — A Southern California man was arrested on suspicion of murder and driving drunk in the death of a motorcycle officer with the California Highway Patrol, officials said Sunday.Michael Callahan of Winchester was booked on the charges in the death of California Highway Patrol Sgt. Steve Licon, said Officer Steve Carapia.Callahan is suspected of driving drunk Saturday afternoon when he crossed over the right shoulder of Interstate 15 in Lake Elsinore, crashing into Licon and a car he had pulled over for speeding.Licon died at a nearby hospital. (KGTV) — A local favorite among beer fans, Amplified Ale Works is expanding its brews eastward.The brewery announced plans to open a production facility in Lemon Grove, inside the historic Sonka Brothers general store building at 3308 Main St., most recently occupied by Lemon Grove Bakery.“We’re looking to open up to our fans, the craft beer community, local music supporters, and Lemon Grove residents the opportunity to have a true investment in a business they can also have an emotional investment in,” Alex Pierson, owner of Amplified Ale Works, said in a release.RELATED: Craft beer scene brewing in Chula VistaAmplified says the facility will have the capacity to brew up to 10,000 barrels annually, which about five times its current production level. (KGTV) -- Authorities say a firefighter has been killed battling the largest record blaze in California history.State fire officials say the firefighter died Monday at the site of the Mendocino Complex fire north of San Francisco. More details have not yet been released.Six firefighters have now died in connection with a wave of massive wildfires that struck Northern California in the past weeks.The deadliest wildfire, the Carr Fire, has left a total of eight people dead, including three firefighters.Two firefighters have died fighting a fire near Yosemite National Park.The Mendocino Complex — actually twin fires being fought together — has burned for more than two weeks. The fire has burned nearly 150 homes and about 547 square miles of brush and forest. That's an area larger than the city of Los Angeles. 842

(KGTV)- Wednesday morning, 59-year-old Leslie Furcron slowly made her way to reporters outside the La Mesa Police Department to speak for the first time since she was shot in the forehead by the police bean bag during a protest and then hospitalized.“I'm a law-abiding citizen and I never came here that night for this to be a part of my story,” she said.Attorney Dante Pride said she was one of the thousands of people in front of the La Mesa Police Department two Saturdays ago where she was peacefully protesting police violence. At the time she was hit, police say officers deemed the gathering an unlawful assembly so they began to use measures to disperse protesters, including tear gas and bean bag rounds. He added that she can't remember everything because of her injury. He did address the Facebook Live video she posted, which appeared to show her throwing a can.“The information that we have now is that she threw a can on the ground and in retaliation for that is when the La Mesa Police Department officers targeted and shot her in the face,” he told reporters.In a timeline released on Tuesday by city officials, a round was fired from about 40 yards away toward her after she was reportedly seen throwing an object at deputies.“There is nothing on camera or anywhere that will show that she made an officer of La Mesa Police Department either fear for their life or injured them,” he told reporters.“I'm a god-serving person.
