Hoverboards are once again the target for recalls, as the Consumer Product Safety Commission issued recalls Tuesday on seven models for potential fire hazard. According to the CPSC, the seven recalled hoverboard models have lithium-ion battery packs that can overheat, posing a risk of smoking, catching fire and/or exploding.Nearly 13,000 units are covered by Tuesday's recall. IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) - Surveillance cameras captured a bizarre and dangerous accident in the South Bay. Darell Salondaguit has twelve surveillance cameras posted around his home at the corner of 15th Street and Imperial Beach Boulevard. He was taking a shower around eleven p.m. Monday when he heard a noise. "We heard a really big thud and thought it was cats in the backyard," said Salondaguit.When he woke up Tuesday morning, he discovered his wooden fence, potted plants, and palm tree were severely damaged. When he played back his cameras, he was shocked at what he saw. "Just a tire flying across from over there, crashing through here," described Salondaguit.The tire flew off of a car on Imperial Beach Boulevard, rolled across 15th Street and crashed through his fence. The cameras also show a man and a woman, casually step over the damaged fence, pick up the tire and leave."They had to come through the yard and get their tire, they didn't bother knocking or anything," said Salondaguit.He filed a report with the Sheriff's Department and hopes the people responsible will come forward."It was like really scary, cause I tend to check the plants at nighttime to see if they're properly watered because we have an automatic watering system. Well, if I was out here, I'd probably be seriously injured, or even dead, cause that thing was going really fast." 1388

Hurricane Teddy strengthened into a major hurricane Thursday morning, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC). However, the agency is currently predicting that the storm will not have a major impact on the U.S.According to an 11 a.m. ET update, Teddy strengthed into a Category 3 storm on Thursday with maximum sustained winds of 120 mph. The storm is currently churning in the central Atlantic and is expected to dissipate before reaching the Caribbean or the United States.However, the storm may have an impact on the island of Bermuda. The storm may approach the island with hurricane-force by late Sunday evening or early Monday morning, and bring storm surge and rain along with it.Earlier this week, Hurricane Paulette passed directly over Bermuda. According to the Weather.com, the entire island was engulfed by the hurricane eye of Paulette as it passed over the territory. Luckily, there was no serious damage or injuries reported in the country.Teddy is just the latest major hurricane produced by an extremely active 2020 hurricane season. Tropical Storm Vicky also formed on Thursday, making it the 20th named storm of the year.
