SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A 65-year-old woman who was hit by a vehicle while crossing a Serra Mesa road Monday has died.The woman was walking to her car with her two adult children in the intersection of Ruffin Rd. and Village Glen Drive just before 8 p.m., according to San Diego Police.Her children separated and the two children made it safely to the other side of the intersection. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A car owner in Old Town has a warning if you're planning on parking in the popular area: A destructive thief may be lurking.On the morning after Cinco de Mayo, blocks from the festivities, Amy Wysocki discover an unpleasant post-celebration surprise."Just heartbreaking. I instantly broke into tears," said Wysocki.Along Congress Street, Wysocki found a side window of her Lexus on the ground, smashed."Then I came upon the other broken window, which was also a shock and quite a bummer," said Wysocki.Inside her car, about 30 bucks in emergency cash was missing, along with some ibuprofen. Her windows are tinted, but if someone peered inside, some boxes filled with paper products can been seen. Wysocki believes those boxes made her car a target. Wysocki is hardly alone. Along Congress Street, there is a trail of broken glass."It's really sad. It's disgusting," said Wysocki.Police told Wysocki there were seven other "smash-and-grab" break-ins discovered in her neighborhood that same day. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - 36 students reportedly felt sick at a Bay Terraces elementary school due to possible construction-related fumes, according to the San Diego Fire Department.San Diego Fire-Rescue crews responded to Zamorano Fine Arts Academy around 10:30 a.m. following the reports of students feeling ill. Crews said the kids complained of not feeling well and were being held in the school's cafeteria.An ambulance brought one child to a nearby hospital, SDFD said. Around 11:45 a.m. SDFD began releasing students who were being held in the cafeteria. A nearby construction site was in the process of pouring resin when the smell caused some children to start feeling sick, according to San Diego Unified School District. The resin is non-toxic, but fire crews were called to check out the students. 835

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -  A San Diego man walked up to a horrifying sight:  his wife bloodied and unconscious in Balboa Park.Donna Gookin and her husband Ed were part of a group participating in orienteering last Wednesday in the early evening.  Orienteering is hiking sport that combines a compass, a map and locating markers.  The two were on separate parts of the trail. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — About an hour east of San Diego is a town with few people and a lot of history."In 1880 you'd be getting run over by wagons sitting right here in this little route," Larry Johnson, president of the Mountain Empire Historical Society, says standing on a road in Campo. "I initially came here in 1956."And like many others they come here for a reason.Robert Marks, who owns East County Lumber & Ranch Supply, learned Campo was for sale last week. "We found out the owner was selling all 3 parcels, maybe he won it in a card game!" Marks jokes.While we can't verify that, the current owner of Campo is a Las Vegas investor. He's looking to sell but hasn't named a price.The sale encompasses 28 residential units and seven commercial properties. About 100 to 150 people live in the listing area and about 3,000 are scattered across the whole town. Listing agent Conor Brennan with Marcus & Millichap says interested parties include rehabbers, developers, horse breeders, and movie producers."My reaction is if he sells it I hope we get someone who wants to put something in this community," Marks says."Personally I don't want big housing developments, I'm not for that," Johnson adds.But it wasn't too long ago the town was looking for another buyer in 1999. Since then, things have largely remained the same."We like it country, we like to have a few new people join us and keep population increasing a little," Johnson says.But residents of Campo want potential buyers to know this is: "It's awesome.
