SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Six months after closing its doors to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic, SeaWorld San Diego is reopening through their weekend Zoo Days Bayside BBQ and Brews events. The special event will take place every weekend until SeaWorld can fully open. The park's attractions will be very limited, with guests able to enjoy all outdoor animals exhibits and shows."We’re opening as an accredited zoo and you can come in and enjoy all the live animal presentations we’re world famous for like the Orca Encounter, dolphins, Sea Lions Live and all the outdoor exhibits that people love and miss," said SeaWorld Park President Marilyn Hannes..Among closed signs for indoor exhibits, game rooms and rides, guests will also notice dozens of sanitizer stations, distance markers and download codes for digital park maps spread throughout.Visitors will also be able to continue enjoying the tide pool areas. "The water is highly filtrated, each of the systems were designed to be a touch pool so they have a high filtration and so that constant turnout makes it safe to do the interaction," Hannes said.Although some of the attractions are closed, Hannes said new ones will take its place, adding, "We’ve opened up Vistas to the Bay so we have a new waterfront area where you can that ocean breeze and try craft beers."Zoo Days will take place every Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. The event has a limited capacity and purchasing a ticket online acts as a reservation. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police requested the public’s help Thursday to identify a man suspected of buying an Apple MacBook and iPhones through identity theft and credit card fraud. The man used a fake ID card with the victim’s real information to access the victim’s account at the Verizon store on Sports Arena Blvd. June 9, police said. Two new Apple iPhone X’s worth ,500 were added to the victim’s account. Police said the man also went to the Best Buy on Mission Center Road and bought a MacBook worth ,000 through the victim’s store credit card. The victim has no knowledge of how his information was accessed, police said. Investigators said the suspect is a white man in his mid 20s to mid 30s, heavy set, with short dark hair. He had a beard and was wearing sunglasses when he shopped. Anyone with information was asked to call Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. 885

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police searched Friday for a very tall man who robbed a Hillcrest bank with a semi-automatic handgun. The man walked into the California Bank and Trust at 3737 Fifth Avenue about 9:15 a.m., police said. Officers said the man demanded money from a teller who gave him cash, then he ran from the bank. A witness said the man dropped some of the money as he fled the area. No injuries were reported. Police said the man is black, 6’5” tall, and 220 pounds. He was last seen wearing a fisherman's hat, dark sunglasses, a dark colored hoodie, and khaki pants. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Students and staff at the King-Chavez Community High School Freshman academy have had a tumultuous few months.  They were displaced from their classrooms location at 1010 Second Avenue in downtown.The building closed down earlier this year for asbestos treatment, displacing many tenants including the school.RELATED: 550 San Diego city workers relocated due to asbestos“It’s been a nightmare,” Principal Kevin Bradshaw said, saying it was a very abrupt closure. “We left school on a Friday evening, came back on a Monday morning and we were locked out," he said.In a statement, the building manager said this to 10News: “We sent an email notice to all tenants immediately following notification from the regulatory agency."Bradshaw says they were not given time to move their things out of the classroom, in fact, they weren’t even allowed to retrieve their equipment. “We have televisions, computers, student’s work, teacher’s items, anything you would have in any normal campus is still in the building,” Bradshaw said. He says they’ve had to replace all those things in order to continue the education of students. The school also had to move their classes to the Boys and Girls Club in Clairemont. Bradshaw says that means they've had to bus their students to that location every day for more than two months, and the bills are racking up.He’s hoping they will be reimbursed.“The owner and all parties involved are actively evaluating the expenses associated with the shutdown,” building management told 10News in a statement. They went on to say that “the building has undergone extensive testing in accordance with the regulatory requirements for occupancy,” and is completely safe now.Bradshaw says he’s still not ready to bring students back to the building until he’s sure it’s safe and they won’t be displaced again. 1889
