SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – The two brothers convicted of killing their parents at their Beverly Hills mansion have been reunited in prison, according to the Associated Press.A spokesperson for the corrections department says 47-year-old Erik Menendez has moved into the same housing unit as his 50-year-old brother, Lyle Menendez.Both brothers are serving life sentences for shooting and killing their parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez, in 1989.Officials say Lyle was moved from Mule Creek State Prison to San Diego’s R.J. Donovan Correctional Facility in February, where his brother has been held in a separate unit since 2013. Wednesday, Erik moved into the same facility, where inmates interact in rehabilitation programs. The brothers can now spend time together during meal time and recreational periods. Each of the brothers has served time at three other state prisons. The brothers claim the murders happened after they were sexually abused by their father. To create the six-month program, USD partnered with a boot camp company to get people trained and employed in cybersecurity as soon as possible. The program springs out of a need for employees. According to a new economic report, the cybersecurity industry has a more than billion economic impact on San Diego, with a total of 19,660 jobs impacted. More than 150 cyber firms call San Diego home, according to the report. Of those, 75 percent expect to grow their cyber employment in the next 12 months. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The preliminary hearing got underway Wednesday for a case that saw the California Highway Patrol reverse course on blame months after a deadly wrong-way crash.Lauren Freeman appeared in court almost a year to the day of the deadly wrong crash on the transition ramp between I-5 and I-8 near Old Town about 2 a.m. Justin Callahan, 35 , who was driving a Volkswagen Jetta, died at the scene, while Freeman and her passenger in a Toyota Camry suffered serious injuries in the crash.The CHP initially thought Callahan was driving the wrong way, eastbound in the westbound lanes, but family members told 10News it didn't make sense because he should have been heading to Ocean Beach from the South Bay after work, and not away from it. After a more thorough probe, investigators determined it was Freeman who was driving the wrong way and driving under the influence. Officers arrested her in November on charges including murder and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated."We're just hoping for justice. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The San Diego Food Bank on Thursday selected 35 nonprofit organizations around the county with the goal of giving them the food and supplies they need to continue helping families in their area.La Maestra Community Health Center provides health and support services to families from the South Bay to East County. Many of those they serve come from low-income households.Before the COVID-19 pandemic, they helped about 300 families a week. Since then, that number has doubled, and they’re now feeding close to 600 families a week.At a news conference with mayors from San Diego, Chula Vista, and Escondido, the San Diego Food Bank announced the kickoff of their “Super Pantries” program, where they have partnered with 35 pre-selected organizations.Instead of holding the mass distribution food events that they’ve done in the past, the Food Bank will now focus on providing these organizations with food and supplies.San Diego Food Bank President/CEO James Floros said, “Now with the grass roots approach, they can go into their communities and get what they need.”Each organization will also get a check for ,000.
