BEIJING, June 12 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao have ordered that supplies for the summer harvest be guaranteed amid reports of shortages in some areas.     Following their order, the State Council has asked local governments and related enterprises to prioritize supplies such as diesel, the fuel for farm vehicles, to take advantage of the best time for the ongoing wheat harvest.     Tight supplies of diesel were reported in some areas since the country began to reap the wheat crop in May as refiners experienced losses resulting from domestic prices that were kept below the spiraling international prices. BEIJING, April 9 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao inspected the southern province of Hainan before attending the annual meeting of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) opening on Saturday.     The forum, April 11-13, is a platform for high-level interaction between leaders from Asia and the world. Boao has been the permanent venue of the annual regional economic forum since 2001.     Hu, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, discussed reform and development issues with local officials and visited with a public made up of various ethnic groups during the inspection tour that started on Monday.     The island province marks the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Hainan special economic zone (SEZ) later this month. Hu visited an exhibition marking the anniversary at the provincial museum.     "Over the past two decades, Hainan's economic and social development has made a remarkable progress. The appearance of cities and villages has undergone profound changes. Practice shows the policy of setting up SEZ in Hainan is completely correct," said the president. BEIJING, May 11 -- China's monetary authorities are struggling to address conflicting policy goals, but inflation will remain the top policy concern, the country's central bank governor said on Saturday.     While the United States and other countries are more focused on fending off a recession, China's monetary policy must target inflation over growth and employment, Zhou Xiaochuan, the People's Bank of China governor, told a forum in Lujiazui, Shanghai's financial center.     "There is no cure-all medicine, and we have to make the final decisions -- everyone hopes there would be a cure-all solution, but there is not," said Zhou.     China's consumer price inflation would likely to rise to 8.5 percent in April from 8.3 percent in March, two sources familiar with the data said late on Thursday. The data, which is subject to last-minute revisions, will be officially released on Monday. BUDAPEST, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Jia Qinglin, head of China's top political advisory body, on Thursday met with Hungary's parliament speaker and put forward a package of proposals for further expanding friendship and cooperation between China and Hungary.     Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), held talks with Szili Katalin, speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly in Budapest Thursday morning.     During the meeting, Jia suggested that the two countries should maintain high-level contact so as to deepen political trust. The two countries should also expand trade and economic cooperation in a bid to promote common development. China will continue to encourage well-established companies to invest in Hungary. It will also adopt effective measures to increase imports from Hungary and encourage enterprises from both countries to carry out active and concrete cooperation, Jia said.
