SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police released a composite sketch Tuesday in the search for a man suspected of trying to kidnap a 3-year-old girl in the Morena area. The incident happened Sunday about 4:30 p.m. as the girl’s mother was taking her daughter for a walk in her wagon on Savannah Street at Buenos Avenue, police said. The area is residential and two blocks away from busy Morena Boulevard. A man parked his sedan but left the engine running, then approached the mother and child from behind, according to investigators. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police are searching for an at-risk missing man who disappeared from downtown Saturday morning. According to police, 57-year-old William Groves was last seen at the corner of 7th Avenue and A street around 10:25 a.m. Saturday. Groves suffers from seizures and has short-term memory loss due to a traumatic brain injury. Police say Groves is also a dependent adult with no money or medication and is visiting San Diego from Hawaii with his mother. According to police, Groves is known to be friendly and talkative. He is described as five feet, five inches tall with brown eyes, gray and black hair and light skin. Groves was last seen wearing a yellow t-shirt with checkered shorts and a black eye patch. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police officers were forced to abandon a pursuit Tuesday after learning a child was in the suspect's vehicle.The pursuit began after the suspect rear-ended an SDPD vehicle along 17th Street downtown around 1 p.m., according to police. The officer in the vehicle hit was fine.Police pursued the driver but terminated the pursuit after learning a child was in the car.SDPD ran the suspect's plates and found the vehicle was also stolen. During the pursuit, the suspect's vehicle collided with at least one other vehicle - losing the front right tire.No injuries were reported.The vehicle was abandoned in the 1300 block of Angelus Ave. in Lemon Grove. Police have yet to locate the suspect.The owner of the vehicle told 10News the car was stolen from Lakeside two days ago. He said he and his 12-year-old son worked on the vehicle as a project together. 943
SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego County health officials Monday echoed Governor Gavin Newsom’s demand to close more businesses as coronavirus intensifies.The state announced Monday that it was closing indoor operations for places of worship, restaurants, wineries, movie theatres and family entertainment, zoos, museums, cardrooms, fitness centers, some offices, personal care services, hair salons and barbershops, and malls. All bars were also ordered to close."We are moving back into a modification mode of our stay-at-home order," Newsom said. The new order takes effect in San Diego at midnight Wednesday morning. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diegans posted images and updates about the fierce Valley Fire burning out of control in the Japatul Valley on Saturday night.Photos and videos shot from various locations around San Diego show a large ominous plume of smoke over the county. Others show videos of flames near the scene of the fire, and at least one local resident miles away from the fire documented ash falling from the sky.As of late Saturday night, fire officials said the blaze has scorched about 1,500 acres. Crews continue to battle the fire under harsh conditions, including strong winds and high heat.
