Residents of the San Diego neighborhood say the city is turning their community into a "homeless ghetto" - and it's time for it to stop. Tuesday night a group gathered outside the Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, calling on the city to provide "fair distribution of homeless services across San Diego.""It's unbelievable what the mayor and the City Council are doing to this area," said Father John Auther. The priest pointed to a map, asking why a nearly 370 square mile city is putting most of the homeless services in a one-quarter square mile. Father Auther says the concentration of services goes beyond the residents of Barrio Logan. It's bad for the homeless community, too. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — It's become the first question when considering a cell phone plan: How's the coverage?In San Diego, AT&T customers may find they have better luck than other carriers, according to a study by PC Mag.Locally, 19 locations were tested around the county — from Chula Vista to La Jolla and out to the College East area — between May 7 and June 1, 2019. Testers ran speed software every two minutes on sets of Samsung Galaxy S10 series phones for about 15 minutes in each location.For San Diego County, AT&T scored the "fastest" title ahead of T-Mobile, Verizon, and Sprint."In San Diego, AT&T had nearly double the average download speed of the next-fastest network, with excellent reliability," PC Mag writes. "The carrier has been spreading its 5G Evolution LTE improvements up and down the California coastline, and we really saw the positive benefits this year."AT&T's average download speed was recorded at 90.7 Mbps, compared to Sprint's 51.5 Mbps, T-Mobile's 44.2 Mbps, and Verizon's 36.4 Mbps averages. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- It’s now been a week since the first Americans began their quarantines at MCAS Miramar after evacuating from the epicenter of the coronavirus, and all Charles Wasserburger wants is one thing: a pizza.“I’m just eating the food they have here and suffering through all the pizza and burger commercials they have on TV,” he said.To be clear, the Nebraska native says he’s not complaining about conditions on the base where he has been on a mandatory 14-day quarantine since Feb. 5. The government has provided all 232 evacuees at Miramar with televisions and cell phones to call or video chat with loved ones, free of charge. He hasn’t shown signs of the virus, but with two cases now confirmed among evacuees at Miramar, his wife in Omaha is a little worried on his behalf.“Even when you’re trying to keep a positive attitude, which he has done, there’s still going to be those days when you’re second guessing, “Could I be that person that comes down with that horrible thing next?” Fauniel Wasserburger said.The evacuees are allowed to mingle with each other in quarantine, although they’re supposed to stay six feet apart.
