Good news and bad news from the IRS this July.The good: the agency reopened for business as of July 13th, which means it is now taking phone calls and processing tax filings as quickly as possible.The bad: during a year when every dime counts, the agency says as many as 4.7 million tax refunds will be delayed another few months.Cristy Mack is one of them. She and her husband never wait to file their taxes because she depends on her refund.But like almost five million other people, they still file paper returns because they are most comfortable doing that."We mailed our paper forms at the end of February," she said.But five months later, Mack still doesn't have her refund."A total of 18 weeks have gone by since we mailed in our return," Mack said.She tried calling the IRS, she says, but like countless other taxpayers, ran into a brick wall."They say they aren't taking calls at the moment," she said.Why refunds are taking so long this yearThe IRS's national taxpayer advocate now says as 4.7 million people who filed paper returns will have very late refunds.That's because the agency furloughed thousands of workers this spring and stopped processing paper returns for two months, creating a huge backlog.Paper processing has restarted, but workers are far behind.Mack needs her tax refund badly."It means a lot to us," she said. Georgina Chapman, the estranged wife of Harvey Weinstein, is speaking out for the first time since her husband was accused by more than 80 women of sexual misconduct.In an interview with Vogue, Chapman maintains that she had no knowledge of the alleged sexual harassment or assaults, and didn't even realize he was unfaithful in their own marriage.Weinstein has repeatedly denied any allegations of "non-consensual sex.""That's what makes this so incredibly painful: I had what I thought was a very happy marriage. HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. — An infant boy died on Friday after being left in a hot car in Hernando County, Fla., officials say.Deputies and Fire Rescue responded to the scene Friday morning in the 12000 block of Elgin Boulevard in Spring Hill just after 11 a.m. after received a call about an infant who had just been removed from a hot car.Hernando County Sheriff's Office officials say that 9-month-old Keyton O’Callaghan was rushed to a nearby Oak Hill Hospital in critical condition. He was pronounced dead at 12:06 p.m. Investigators say that Keyton had been in the care of his mother, Cami Lee Moyer, 38, since Thursday night. HCSO says that the infant's father, Eric O'Callahan, 32, came home and found Keyton in the vehicle parked on the driveway in front of the home. Deputies say O'Callahan took the infant inside where he began performing CPR on the child while he was on the phone with 911. He continued to perform CPR until fire rescue arrived and took over.At this time, officials do not know how long Keyton was left in the car. Detectives are still working to establish a chronological timeline of events.“If you think you might forget, put a shoe back there. Take it off your foot and put it back there. Put your phone back there," Denise Moloney with HCSO said in a press conference.
