SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – County leaders Wednesday approved a plan that would allow San Diego businesses such as gyms and local places of worship to operate outdoors at county parks.The new initiative gives businesses another option as they look to operate amid the coronavirus pandemic. Last month, the state implemented restrictions that forced many businesses to either close completely or move outdoors.Under the plan, space at any of the county’s 30 parks could be used for service via a free permit.“We need to be creative and provide a lot of flexibility, particularly to churches, places of worship, gyms, and other fitness-oriented businesses,” said County Supervisor Dianne Jacob, who proposed the plan.Jacob said of the process to obtain permits: “I’m asking the county to streamline the process so it’s a very quick turnaround.”She added the process is similar to Poway’s, a city with a similar plan already in place.San Diegan Joel Nevarez visits San Diego’s Waterfront Park off Harbor Drive every morning for his workout because he enjoys it and the park was one of his only options."Getting some sunlight is good for you. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Border Patrol agents arrested a man after finding more than million worth of narcotics inside his car.According to the agency, the incident began around 4 a.m. on October 4 when the 21-year-old man, a US citizen, entered the I-8 checkpoint.As agents questioned the man, a K-9 alerted authorities to the vehicle.After searching the car, agents found 36 wrapped packages under the driver’s side front tire.The brick-shaped packages were later found to contain 84 pounds of cocaine and four pounds of fentanyl pills.“Criminal organizations go to great lengths to conceal and smuggle dangerous narcotics in order to make millions of dollars. This is done without regard to the health and safety of our communities. I am proud of our Border Patrol agents’ vigilant efforts to keep this poison off our streets,” Acting Chief Patrol Agent Patricia McGurk-Daniel said.Since October 1, San Diego Border Patrol Agents have seized 491 pounds of cocaine, 7,169 pounds of methamphetamine, 178 pounds of heroin, and 383 pounds of fentanyl. 1056

According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the crash happened on northbound I-15 at Rancho Bernardo Road before 6 p.m. At this time, the cause of the crash is unknown. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – California and two other Western states have issued travel advisories that include a 14-day quarantine for those visiting the states or returning home from outside travel.California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Oregon Gov. Kate Brown, and Washington Gov. Jay Inslee put the advisories into action for their respective states on Friday. The announcement comes as travel is expected to ramp up for the holidays.The advisories urge “visitors entering their states or returning home from travel outside these states to self-quarantine to slow the spread of the virus. The travel advisories urge against non-essential out-of-state travel, ask people to self-quarantine for 14 days after arriving from another state or country and encourage residents to stay local.”CALIFORNIA TRAVEL ADVISORY ANNOUNCEMENTIn addition to the self-quarantine, the advisories recommend travelers “limit their interactions to their immediate household. The advisories define essential travel as travel for work and study, critical infrastructure support, economic services and supply chains, health, immediate medical care and safety and security.”Newsom said in a news release, “Travel increases the risk of spreading COVID-19, and we must all collectively increase our efforts at this time to keep the virus at bay and save lives.”Brown added, “COVID-19 does not stop at state lines. As hospitals across the West are stretched to capacity, we must take steps to ensure travelers are not bringing this disease home with them. If you do not need to travel, you shouldn’t. This will be hard, especially with Thanksgiving around the corner. But the best way to keep your family safe is to stay close to home.”“Limiting and reducing travel is one way to reduce the further spread of the disease.
