A judge has held Chelsea Manning in contempt and she is being detained, her lawyer says."As everybody knows, Chelsea has tremendous courage. Our primary concern at this point is her health while she is confined and we will be paying close attention," Manning's attorney, Moira Meltzer-Cohen, told reporters outside a federal courthouse in Virginia.Manning can be held for the term of the grand jury and not longer than 18 months, Meltzer-Cohen said. Asked if Manning was prepared to stay imprisoned for 18 months, Meltzer-Cohen said "we are not there yet." Meltzer-Cohen added that it was "quite likely" they would appeal the order.Manning refused to answer questions about her 2010 public disclosures of military and diplomatic secrets before a grand jury earlier this week. Her presence before the grand jury this week suggests prosecutors continue to investigate and pursue charges against Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks.Manning is a former Army intelligence analyst who spent nearly seven years imprisoned after she was arrested for the massive leak to WikiLeaks. She was sentenced to 35 years in prison, but that was commuted by President Barack Obama in 2017.The-CNN-Wire? & ? 2019 Cable News Network, Inc., a Time Warner Company. All rights reserved. 1283

PUEBLO, Colo. — The Colorado State Patrol said two people are dead and several injured following a crash involving a charter bus that was transporting 10 children and five adults on Interstate 25 near Pueblo, Colorado, Sunday afternoon. The bus, carrying a group from a New Mexico Catholic organization, was traveling southbound when it veered off the highway and struck part of a bridge embankment structure around 2:30 p.m. near mile marker 109, about 10 miles north of Pueblo. The 22-year-old male bus driver and another person, whose age and name is unknown, were killed in the crash. The 13 other passengers suffered injuries ranging from minor to critical, State Patrol Sgt. Blake White said during a Sunday evening briefing.State Patrol Cpl. Ivan Alvarado said the unidentified driver might have suffered a medical incident, possibly a seizure. He was ejected from the bus when it veered west off the roadway and struck the dirt embankment, Alvarado said. The front of the bus sustained significant damage, leading to the two deaths, he said. The group on the bus were from the Aquinas Newman Center at the University of New Mexico. They were returning home to New Mexico from the Steubenville of the Rockies Catholic conference in Denver when the crash occurred. The Denver Archdiocese released the following statement:“We offer our prayers tonight for everyone involved in the tragic bus accident this afternoon near Pueblo. We especially send our prayers and deepest condolences to the families and friends of those who were killed, and our prayers for healing and comfort for those who were injured.”The CSP said three medical helicopters responded and dozens of ambulance and fire crews transported occupants of the bus to hospitals. Authorities said five people had to be extricated from the wreckage. Authorities closed one lane of traffic in the area, causing extensive backups in both directions. 1925

A female teacher at a Pennsylvania middle school is on administrative leave after she could be heard on video calling a black man the "N-word" and using other racist language after a fender bender in the school parking lot.The incident happened Thursday at Drexel Hill Middle School, Upper Darby School District Superintendent Daniel McGarry said. The woman has been a teacher there since 2008, he said."Right now, this person is on administrative leave without pay," McGarry told CNN. "We're going to pursue it vigorously. The next steps are the staff member can elect arbitration."He confirmed the woman in the video uses the N-word and a derogatory remark that is offensive to the LGBTQ community toward a parent after a minor accident in the parking lot.The Upper Darby School District is in a residential suburb of Philadelphia. According to the district, the student population of its schools is increasingly diverse: 46.6% are African American, 31.76% are white, 14.4% are Asian/Pacific Islander, 5.62% are Hispanic and 1% are other. The video, posted on Facebook, appears to begin after the accident and as a man says, "I guess she's done cursin' and screaming."The woman cuts him a look as she rubs the bumper of the truck she was driving. She can be heard saying the man is "probably on welfare too."The man says, "Not even a little bit. Six figures a year, ma'am."The teacher, who has not been publicly identified, calls that BS."It's because I'm young and I'm black, the reason why you would say that," he says."That's right, because you're black," she replies, as she continues to rub the bumper."Probably on welfare," he says, repeating her words."That's right," she answers. "Always looking to milk the system. And you see me, a white woman, so you think I got money.""Not even a little bit. Don't even look like you got it," he says. "Not even a little bit.""Go back to your welfare, to your Section 8 house," she says, referring to a federal program of 1980
