A non-profit organization announced its come up with a way to feed voters at several polling places across the nation for free on Election Day.World Central Kitchen kicked off their initiative last week with the announcement of its #ChefsforthePolls.They say people often cast their vote before work, during their lunch break, or after work, and those are the same time's people typically grab something to eat.And with long lines at polling stations, that could be the difference between voting and not voting, so they want to help make it a convenient experience for voters."WCK and our partners are activating #ChefsForThePolls to serve nourishing meals on early voting days and Election Day," the organization said on its website. "We'll be stationed by polling locations around the country, targeting those with historically long lines, predicted massive turnouts, or limited facilities, sharing meals with anyone – no questions asked. A student was taken into custody Friday after a shooting at a Noblesville, Indiana, middle school left three people injured, officials said.Noblesville police Chief Kevin Jowitt told reporters that a teacher and a student were taken to hospitals with injuries from the shooting at Noblesville West Middle School. But hospital officials said at least three people, including one adult, were being treated. One student had an ankle fracture.Jowitt said the shooting in the city of 60,000, about 25 miles northeast of Indianapolis, was reported shortly after 9 a.m.A student asked for permission to leave the classroom and "he returned armed with two handguns," Jowitt said at an afternoon news conference.The situation was quickly resolved, and the student was arrested in or near the classroom, police public information officer Lt. Bruce Barnes said.Jowitt said a secondary threat was received at Noblesville High School."We have multiple officers and a command post established at Noblesville High School and are diligently ensuring the safety of students and staff there," he said. "We have not received any information that this has been anything other than a communicated threat."Barnes said police are seeking several search warrants in their investigation. Police don't know the motive or where the guns came from, he said.Authorities did not release the name of the suspect or the names and conditions of the injured people. However, the teacher was identified as Jason Seaman, 29, according to his aunt, Brenda Hubly-Sushka.Gov. Eric J. Holcomb, who was returning from a trip to Europe, said in a statement that he was monitoring the situation and that about 100 Indiana State Police officers were made available to work with local authorities."Our thoughts are with all those affected by this horrible situation," his statement said.Vice President Mike Pence tweeted, "Karen and I are praying for the victims of the terrible shooting in Indiana. To everyone in the Noblesville community -- you are on our hearts and in our prayers. A staff member at a Michigan school is on administrative leave after a student says a teacher assaulted him for not standing for the Pledge of Allegiance. According to Brian Chaney, his 11-year old son Stone Chaney was in homeroom class the first week of school when a teacher snatched him out of his seat and forced him to stand for the Pledge. "He said, 'During the Pledge the teacher snatched me out of my chair,'” Brian said. Stone is a sixth grader at East Middle School in Farmington Hills, Michigan. Stone says he’s been sitting for the pledge since second grade when his father explained why he had the choice. His father says there’s never been an issue until now. Stone says the next day, another teacher yelled at him for the same thing, asking him if he had permission to sit during the pledge."For him to be violently snatched out of his chair by a lady and order him to stand and for her to just glare at him, it's wrong, it's a violation of civil rights," Chaney said.Farmington Public Schools Superintendent George Heitsch says they’re investigating the allegations.“We respect the rights of any individual to make personal choices around issues of faith and beliefs. We're disappointed that we're even having the conversation,” Heitsch said. One staff member has been placed on administrative leave.  1380

A pair of bald eagles residing in a tree outside an Avon Lake elementary school has welcomed another eaglet to their nest.The pair of eagles was affectionately named "Stars" and "Stripes" by a group of Avon Lake students several years ago. They have returned to their nest each year at Redwood Elementary School to raise a new brood.An egg hatched on Friday around 9:44 a.m. A second egg started to hatch later in the day.  441
