"The International community urges the DPRK to give up its nuclear and missile programs, while the DPRK hopes to ease outside military pressure. That's why the nature of the nuclear issue is not economy but security, " Wang said.
"BRICS not only offers us a very real opportunity to mitigate these risks both economically and socially, but in particular by being able to provide and contribute to a different narrative, which is precisely where we come in as the media. There are many outside of the BRICS arc, particularly in the traditional poles of power, who have a vested interest in seeing BRICS fail or ignoring it altogether," he added.
China is willing to work with Britain to lift the global comprehensive strategic partnership for the 21st century to a higher level, so as to better benefit the two peoples, he added.
The meeting affirmed China's economic performance in the first half of this year, which has been running in a proper range with expectation-beating economic indicators and steady improvement in urban employment.
