A leadership and facilitation company, literally named "momentum," was training corporations around the world when the pandemic hit. And it was clear to financially survive they had to pivot.Jason and Deirdre Maloney created the MagicWrap because they felt the world could use some warmth right now.“There's certainly people who are feeling isolated, feeling alone. Everybody likes a hug," Deirdre Maloney says.And a hug is just what a friend needed. But, when they couldn't find the gift they were looking for, they created it and brought MagicWrap to the market.“There's a concept about a blanket that's about covering yourself, and that's not what we wanted. We wanted that warmth like someone had their arms around you," Jason Maloney said. It even comes with a personalized note, and a pocket to keep it in. The pocket also makes a cell phone easy to walk around with. But before MagicWrap and product manufacturing, the Maloney's were a success in the field of corporate training and facilitation. Their company, Momentum, was booked solid into the fall.“For a company that goes around talking to businesses and they no longer exist. We have no business," said Jason.And their record-breaking year for Momentum, vanished.“It was a shock. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The city updated the Sherman Heights community and surrounding neighborhoods Wednesday evening, about the transitional homeless storage facility that's set to open.  The facility is scheduled to open at the corner of the Commerical and 20th Streets on June 13.  It's been a controversial project from the beginning. The storage facility will hold 500 units for homeless people to store their things while they look for work and get back on their feet.  RELATED:  514

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The City of San Diego is paying out 5,000 after a violent police dog takedown.The man in a viral video sued the police department for excessive force.10News found out that this isn’t the first time the use of a police dog has been questioned.TIMELINE: San Diego K-9 bitesThe San Diego Police department has relied more on the K-9 unit in the last several years. Police say stats show a sharp increase in the number of times a police dog was deployed and someone was bitten from 2013 to 2016.There were also more dogs and handlers employed within that same three-year time period.Police say that has changed this year. Lt. Scott Wahl says the K-9 units have been to more than 12,000 calls resulting in only 37 bites.One of the more recent bites took place in October. In that incident, the K-9 put an end to a police chase in South Bay.Currently, there are 33 dogs and handlers. The dogs go through an initial 10-week training program followed by four hours of maintenance training a week and 15 minutes of obedience work every day. 1067

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The former head of the Poway Unified School District appeared in court Monday for a preliminary hearing on five felony charges.Officials charged John Collins with misappropriating and misuse of public money.The complaint accuses Collins of misappropriation of public money dealing with vacation time and sick leave. Poway Unified fired Collins in 2017 after a scathing audit had alleged he received more than 0,000 in overpayments and unauthorized payments.The audit also claims there were an additional ,000 in other transactions that violated district policy and some questionable purchases for airline tickets, dinners and hotel fees.Collins attorney did not respond to 10News request for a comment, but in the past, Collins denied engaging in conduct that was dishonest.If convicted on all charges, Collins could face more than seven years behind bars. 894
