Fans of true crime will get more than they bargain for this weekend, as HBO releases a six-part documentary series based on the book of the same name, I’ll Be Gone In The Dark.The book written by Michelle McNamara follows the writer's own investigation into the suspected crimes and capture of Joseph DeAngelo, better known as the "Golden State Killer." DeAngelo was arrested on suspicion of at least 13 murders and more than 50 rapes across California in April 2018. ESCONDIDO (CNS) - Escondido police today arrested a man after he allegedly jumped on top of a patrol car and began striking it with a rock.Related: Rincon Middle School closed after social media threatAt about 9:45 a.m., a patrol sergeant pulled up to the intersection of Washington Avenue and Quince Street when he witnessed a man run up to his patrol SUV, jump onto the back and begin smacking a rock onto the vehicle's roof, Escondido Police Sgt. Eric Olson said.The man also tore off the vehicle's rear windshield wiper before attempting to flee east on Washington Avenue, Olson said. FALLBROOK, Calif. (KGTV) - A motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries Friday when a tree fell on him during a period of high winds in Fallbrook.The tree that injured the motorcycle rider fell on South Mission Road and West Elder Street, according to North County Fire. The unidentified man was flown to Palomar Hospital. Another tree fell at De Luz Road and Patton Oaks Friday afternoon, shutting down De Luz for about two hours. San Diego County Roads crews assisted firefighters in clearing the street. FALLBROOK, Calif. (KGTV) — A Fallbrook woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash late Friday.The 56-year-old Fallbrook resident was walking on East Alvarado St. near Alvarado Ct. just before 9 p.m. when she was hit by a vehicle in the eastbound lane, according to California Highway Patrol.She was taken to Palomar Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. Her name has not been released and it's not clear why the woman was in the street.The vehicle that hit the woman fled the area heading eastbound.
