WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. — U.S. Marshals safely recovered 123 missing children in a one-day operation in Michigan.The U.S. Marshals Service - Detroit Missing Child Recovery Unit, U.S. Marshals Service Sex Offender Investigations Branch, Michigan State Police and law enforcement officers from Wayne County agencies participated in Operation MISafeKid, a missing juvenile sweep to identify and recover missing children from the area with an emphasis on locating victims of sex trafficking.According to the U.S. Marshals, out of 301 files of missing children, 123 were identified and recovered safely, all of which were interviewed about potentially being sexually victimized or used in a sex trafficking ring. Three such cases were discovered.The Detroit Missing Child Recovery Unit was requested to assist on 30 missing child cases two weeks prior to the sweep. WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. officials estimate that 20 million Americans have been infected with the coronavirus since it first arrived in the United States, with millions never knowing they had it.Thursday's estimate is roughly 10 times the 2.3 million cases that have been confirmed in the U.S.“Our best estimate right now is that for every case that we’ve reported, there were actually 10 other infections,” said the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Robert Redfield, during a phone briefing with reporters Thursday. Redfield said that estimate comes from analyzing blood samples from across the country for the presence of antibodies to the virus.Twenty million infections means that only about 6% of the nation’s 331 million people have had the virus, leaving the vast majority of the population still susceptible.“This is still serious,” Redfield said. “But I’m asking people to recognize that we’re in a different situation today than we were in March or April,” with more cases today in younger people who are not as likely to develop serious illness or die from infection, he said.The news comes as the Trump administration works to tamp down nationwide concern about the COVID-19 pandemic at a time when about a dozen states are seeing worrisome increases in cases.Also on Thursday, the CDC announced that it was broadening its list of people who are at a higher risk of getting seriously ill from the coronavirus. The CDC has removed the specific age threshold for severe COVID-19 illness. WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — An 8-year-old has gone above and beyond this holiday season.Aiden Foster didn’t give up until a West Palm Beach woman found her cat which ran away weeks ago.The past 10 years Ashley Goldstein and her furry friend, Tobin, have been inseparable. But just days after they settled into a new home, Tobin disappeared.“I was desperate to find him. I put flyers up,”Goldstein said.She searched for several days which then turned into weeks, still no sign of Tobin.“Honestly I thought I was never going to see him again. I kinda gave up,” she said.At that moment, a glimmer of hope.Ashley received a phone call with the news that she’d been desperately waiting for.“It’s this little boy telling me that he thinks he saw my cat,” she explained.It was Foster, the neighborhood pet detective, who promised to help.“I saw him in the backyard he ran over the fence,” Foster said.Aiden kept his word and went above and beyond, using a little creativity in the process.“So I tried to go after him and I just couldn’t so I just put my cat food that was there, I put a trail all the way down there left a whole big pile over there ,” Foster said.60 days after his disappearance, Ashley received her Christmas miracle.
