BEIJING, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Dejiang Wednesday said the country should step up efforts to promote the development of third-generation (3G) and domestically-developed TD-SCDMA technology.     Zhang urged accelerated construction of the 3G network, strengthened technological innovation and enhanced information security management, during a visit to the country's four major 3Goperators including Datang Telecom, China Telecom, China Unicom and China Mobile.     Zhang said the 3G technology should be given full play to promote the informationization and upgrading of the traditional industries and boost the development of modern service industries. BEIJING, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao said here on Tuesday that the key to Sino-U.S. relations was to mutually respect and accomodate each other's core interests and major concerns while differences from different national conditions were normal.     "The China-U.S. relations are very important. Maintaining and promoting such ties is a shared responsibility of both sides," Hu told reporters here after meeting visiting U.S. President Barack Obama.     China is ready to work together with the United States to push forward the continuous, healthy and stable development of Sino-U.S. relations to better serve the interests of the two peoples and the people around the world, said the Chinese leader.     Hu said that the two sides have reaffirmed the "cardinal principle" of "mutually respecting national sovereignty and territorial integrity" and voiced opposition to any attempt by any force that violates this principle.     He said that China appreciates President Obama's support for the one-China policy and the three Sino-U.S. joint communiques, and his respect for China's national sovereignty and territorial integrity on the Taiwan issue and other matters.     "We have both agreed to conduct dialogues and exchanges on issues including human rights and religion, in the spirit of equality, mutual respect and non-interference in each other's internal affairs, so as to boost understanding, mitigate differences and broaden consensus," Hu said. 

BEIJING, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan met here Friday with his Uzbekistan counterpart Elyar Ganiev, pledging to promote the healthy and sustainable development of economic and trade ties.     Wang conveyed congratulation on the success of the eighth session of the China-Uzbekistan Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee.     He said since the two countries forged diplomatic ties, high-level exchanges were frequent and the cooperation in such areas as economic and trade, energy and security were ever expanding. BEIJING, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- Heavy snow in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region had left one person dead and forced the evacuation of 5,435 as of 8:00 p.m. Friday, according to the Ministry of Civil Affairs Saturday.     The heavy snow also flattened 799 houses and caused damages to 4,897 others in the region, the ministry said.
