Mark Anthony Conditt, who police say was behind a wave of bombings in Austin and south-central Texas, killed himself early Wednesday in what investigators described as an explosion inside his car, leaving them scrambling to determine whether any bombs remain and if he acted alone.Federal agents went to the bomber's home Wednesday while police interviewed his roommates.Fred Milanowski, the special agent in charge for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives' Houston office, said one room in the house had components for making similar bombs to the ones that exploded in a string of incidents this month. There was also similar homemade explosive material in the room.No finished bombs were found, he said.Conditt detonated a bomb in his vehicle before dawn on the side of Interstate 35 in Round Rock, north of Austin, as police approached him, authorities said.Even in announcing his death, though, police warned a wary public not to let down their guard."We don't know where this suspect has spent his last 24 hours, and therefore we still need to remain vigilant to ensure that no other packages or devices have been left throughout the community," Austin police Chief Brian Manley said. 1221

Marking the breakout of peace after World War I, President Donald Trump on Sunday honored a century-old transatlantic alliance that some fear is fraying. He and dozens of his global counterparts gathered at the Arc de Triomphe in central Paris to mark 100 years since the nightmares of World War I ended, a conclusion brought about partly by the entry of the United States into the bitter, nationalism-fueled conflict.Trump arrived separately from other foreign leaders to Sunday's armistice centenary ceremonies, which occurred under gray skies and cold drizzle. His counterparts, including French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, convened at the élysée Palace before traveling together in motor coaches to the Arc de Triomphe. They walked in a large group to the event site.Trump arrived in his own vehicle and walked in separately. A topless protester breached a police barricade and ran toward Trump's motorcade before being apprehended. Russian President Vladimir Putin also arrived separately and walked in solo. 1095

MALIBU (CNS) - Supermodel Bella Hadid has donated ,000 toward fighting mud slides in Malibu expected as a result of the still-burning Woolsey Fire, it was reported Thursday.Hadid, 22, donated the money to the Malibu Disaster Prevention & Relief Fund, the celebrity news website TMZ.com reported. The GoFundMe page is spearheaded by the Point Dume Bomberos (firefighters), who need the money to pack sandbags, buy pool pumps, generators, respirators, cleanup materials and other tools.Rain could arrive sometime next week and fire officials have said fast-moving mudslides -- possibly like the catastrophic one in Montecito earlier this year -- could be powerful enough to bring down trees and tons of other debris. Hadid lost her Montecito home in January from devastating floods and has seen the area where she was raised -- Malibu -- decimated.Bella's not the only celebrity pitching in to help Malibu get back onits feet, TMZ reported. Patton Oswalt donated ,000 to rebuild a horse ranch that burned down. Jon Favreau kicked in ,000 to another Woolsey Fire relief fund and Sean Astin donated ,000 to a similar cause.Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have donated 0,000 to The Malibu Foundation through Cyrus' charity, Happy Hippie, a representative told CNN. The funds will be used for ``those in financial need, emergency relief assistance, community rebuilding, wildfire prevention and climate change resilience," according to a statement.Hemsworth on Tuesday posted a photo of the remains of the home he shared with Cyrus. Other celebrities who lost homes in California's fires are Neil Young, Robin Thicke and Gerard Butler. 1652
