SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A serial flasher who exposed himself to seven women near University of California San Diego was sentenced Thursday, according to City Attorney Mara Elliott. Nicholas Saienni, 34, pleaded guilty to four misdemeanor charges of indecent exposure and received a sentence of 180 days of custody, three years of probation, a waiver of his Fourth Amendment search and seizure rights, and court fines and fees. He was also ordered to register as a sex offender and get counseling. If he violates his probation, he could face an additional year and a half in jail, according to prosecutors. San Diego Police arrested Saienni after eight separate incidents between January and March 2019. Prosecutors said Saienni exposed himself to the women while dressed as a jogger and wearing a hooded sweatshirt to conceal his identity. Saienni confessed to the indecent exposure and admitted he had been convicted of similar acts in Delaware in 2018, Elliott reported. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- All lanes of eastbound Interstate 8 have reopened after a three-vehicle crash caused four lanes of the interstate to be closed. The crash happened near the College Road off-ramp around 3:45 a.m. The California Highway Patrol gave few details on what exactly caused the crash.A driver of the SUV involved in the crash said another car drove the wrong way down the ramp and smashed into his vehicle. A third vehicle then crashed into the two others.Two people inside one of the vehicles were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.CHP says one of those inside the sedan at the time of the crash may have been thrown from the car. The man is also being investigated for possibly driving under the influence, according to CHP.The driver of the SUV was uninjured while the driver of the third vehicle is being investigated for driving under the influence. 898

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A Southern California athlete said his life was changed forever from a stem cell product he said came from a San Diego company. “It’s been tough. And it’s still tough,” said Alex Reyes. Team 10 interviewed Reyes at a San Bernardino park, where he took a few moments to play with his young children. Those are the moments he treasures because last year, even holding his kids was something he could not do. “I couldn’t walk for about three and a half to four weeks. I was on a bedpan. It was one of the hardest things I had to go through in my life,” Reyes said.This is coming from a man used to taking punches. He has several accomplishments in mixed martial arts, including King of the Cage Junior Welterweight and Lightweight Champion, as well as the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation Absolute Purple Belt Champion. Reyes was signed to the UFC back in September of 2017 to compete in the Lightweight Division. In the UFC, he was known as the Executioner. “It was just the beginning for me,” Reyes said.He started doing stem cell injections last year to help with an old back injury. “It was kind of nagging,” he told Team 10.The first one he tried went well. “It helps regenerate the tissue… there was improvement, and I felt better,” he said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A teacher at a middle school in Vista says a look inside her classroom reveals her concerns about the lack of social distancing.Laura Whitehouse’s classroom at Rancho Minerva Middle school. The history teacher has been at the school for seven years, and for the first time, she is anxious about going to school."It’s frightening. It’s frightening," said Whitehouse.She says her fears stem from the lack of social distancing. Her classes have 34 kids, with two kids sitting at each table right next to each other."Distance between each table is about two feet. They’re just on top of each other," said Whitehouse.Whitehouse says the kids are supposed to wear masks, but she sometimes has to remind them to put their masks on, and to maintain social distance."They want to clump together. They want to go to each other’s desk," said Whitehouse.After a few days of in-person learning, Whitehouse on Tuesday received plexiglass for her desk and a HEPA air purifier, but she worries it’s not close to being enough. She says there’s no cleaning between classes, as new students rotate in."The germs that are accumulating are just crazy," said Whitehouse.Amid her concerns, there have been at least four positive COVID-19 cases in the Vista Unified School District, sparking new rules about what will trigger a school to revert to distance learning.Whitehouse, who has asthma, says the new rules don’t address what’s putting her and her students most at risk."I am afraid for them. I just want them and their families to be healthy," said Whitehouse.She’s hoping for more cleaning, and more hybrid learning to reduce the number of kids in the classroom."The fear is this is just going to continue to get worse," said Whitehouse.The teachers union tells ABC 10News they are preparing an OSHA complaint detailing the classroom conditions.
