SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- County health officials are notifying people who may have been exposed to tuberculosis at locations throughout San Diego County. According to County News Center, three unrelated cases of the disease were reported in San Diego County between August 20 and October 18. Two of the cases were reported at San Diego County Sheriff’s detention facilities. Investigators believe the individual arrived in San Diego after leaving a Long Beach hospital without permission. The third person died from “co-occurring medical conditions” at a local hospital on October 6. Tuberculosis is transmitted from person to person through indoor air during prolonged contact with the infected person. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — County officials will challenge a ruling that allows local strip clubs to operate while several other businesses are closed or limited under California's new stay-at-home order.San Diego County's Board of Supervisors voted 3-2 in a closed session on Tuesday, with Supervisors Kristen Gaspar and Jim Desmond voting no, to appeal any "adverse ruling" to a hearing over whether to allow strip clubs to remain open.The businesses sued to county and state in October over COVID-19 restrictions that forced them to close indoor operations. A judge issued a preliminary injunction on Nov. 6 that protects the businesses from any enforcement, though the businesses must comply with rules surrounding a 10 p.m. curfew and close early.RELATED: State says San Diego County playgrounds can remain open during stay-at-home orderSupervisor Nathan Fletcher said on Wednesday that the board will have a hearing before a judge. In a message titled “COVID-19 Update,” state officials say immunization requirements “remain in place for now. Any updates will be posted here.”But history and medical science suggest it will take time before states make a COVID vaccine mandatory for children, according to Dr. Rahul Gupta, the chief medical and health officer at March of Dimes.SEE ALSO: States have authority to fine or jail people who refuse coronavirus vaccine, attorney saysMarch of Dimes is the non-profit organization that funded the search for a polio vaccine in the 1950s.“We’re seeing a repeat of history in so many ways,” Dr. Gupta said.Fear of the deadly polio virus prompted quarantines, social distancing and a run on breathing machines. In those days, doctors used iron lungs.With funding from March of Dimes, Dr. Jonas Salk launched a massive clinical trial on 1.8 million kids using his experimental vaccine in 1954. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Authorities are investigating after a body was found floating in the ocean off the coast of San Diego Monday afternoon. According to the U.S. Coast Guard, the body was discovered in the water approximately five miles off the coast of Mission Bay around noon. The body was found floating in the water with a life jacket nearby by a good Samaritan, the Coast Guard says. A second vest was also located in the water. The former presidential candidate stood alongside protestors at The Westin Hotel on Friday. “Nobody wants to do this. We would all like to work right now,” says employee Arturo Ramirez.Ramirez has been working at The Westin Hotel since February. With the high cost of living in San Diego, Ramirez says its sometimes hard to pay the bills.“My mother and I, we work at the same hotel. We’re struggling to pay ,100 in rent," Ramirez says.Bernie Sanders took the stage to show his support to workers during his visit to San Diego.“We’re saying to Marriott who owns Westin, we’re saying to every corporation in this country who make billions of dollars in profit, pay your workers a living wage," Sanders said to a crowd of protesters.Employees are asking for a raise of at least an hour and a chance to save for their retirement.“It’s a billion dollar company that needs to pay the workers a living wage so they can live in the city of San Diego," says Bridgett Browning, President of Unite Here Union.
