VANCOUVER – A Canadian choir performed a COVID-19 parody of Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” and it may be just what you need to get through the holidays.The parody posted online is called “I Will Social Distance From You” and it was performed by the Virtual Pop Choir, operated by The Chorus Studio in Vancouver.The choir made several lyrical edits throughout the song to better apply to the turbulent times we’re living in this holiday season.Along with asking people to keep their distance, the choir has a few other things on their wish list this Christmas, like a mask that doesn’t fog up glasses and fashionable PPE.They also jokingly refer to Santa Claus as a super-spreader and tell him to “get the f*** out of my face” multiple times.The choir also touches on the popular opinion that 2020 has been bad as a whole.“All of 2020 has been a steaming dump. We’re out of toilet paper, can’t even wipe our butts. And everyone is wondering, is a vaccine really coming? Murder hornets, Q’anon, wildfires, anti-maskers,” the choir sang.At the end of the song, the singers say all they really want is to see their choir and safely sing in harmony.“Even though we’re still apart, I hold you fiercely in my heart. TUCSON, Ariz. — Former USA Gymnastics doctor and convicted sexual predator Larry Nassar has been moved from a federal prison in Tucson, Arizona.According to ESPN, Nassar’s attorneys said in a court filing that Nassar was assaulted after being put into the general population at the Tucson Federal Correctional Complex.ESPN.com reports Nassar is an inmate at Oklahoma City’s Federal Transfer Center. (KGTV) — Sheriff's deputies asked the public for help Wednesday to locate an East County man who disappeared from an assisted living facility.SDSO says 74-year-old Stan Neff was last seen just before 10 a.m. on Tuesday at the facility in the 8900 block of Troy Street in Spring Valley. He may have walked out through a side door.Neff has dementia and tires easily, deputies say. He is described as a white male, weighing about 140 pounds, 5-foot 8-inches tall, and with gray hair. Neff was last seen wearing a blue plaid button-up shirt or white t-shirt, khaki pants, and one loafer shoe and one sandal. Veterinarians are seeing an alarming increase in the number of cases of the canine parvovirus.Nationally, Blue Pearl pet hospitals report a 70 percent increase of the virus compared to statistics collected the previous five years.While an exact reason for the spike has yet to be determined, veterinarians suspect the coronavirus pandemic can shoulder some of the blame.“If people are staying home and have strict stay at home orders, probably vet visits aren’t the first thing on their minds,” said Dr. Lenore Bacek with Blue Pearl. “Financially, some people took a large hit to their normal finances during this time and routine vaccines weren’t a priority.”She added that people may be taking their newly adopted puppies to dog parks before they are fully vaccinated.Parvovirus is highly contagious because it can live on surfaces like grass or blankets for months and years.“Just assume it’s in the environment and don’t take your puppy somewhere other dogs have been,” Dr. Bacek said.Symptoms of the virus include vomiting and diarrhea, fever, abdominal pain, decreased appetite, weakness and weight loss.Dogs can’t pass the virus to humans. However, the increase of parvovirus cases could mean other important vaccines are being neglected.“We worry if they are not getting parvo vaccines, are we missing things like rabies vaccines, which could have a public health implication?” Dr. Bacek said.Puppies are most at risk, but the virus can also impact adult dogs. Veterinarians recommend adults receive a booster vaccine every three years.If a dog falls ill, they can face expensive treatment.“With aggressive treatment, hospitalization, IV fluid therapy, supportive care, the survival rate is high, close to 90 percent,” Dr. Bacek said.However, the financial and emotional toll of a dog getting sick can be avoided with proper vaccines.“We want to make sure as the first wave continues and second waves comes, that vets are seen as an important factor in public health,” Dr. Bacek said.KSTU's John Franchi was first to report this story. 2051
