LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- A Fort Myers, Florida brewery is creating a beer with a derivative of marijuana. It doesn't contain the THC that makes you high, but it does affect the aroma. Point Ybel Brewing Company has developed their SowFlo IPA, which they say is infused with essential oils from marijuana plants.The brew is available at their brewery in cans right now, but they plan to debut another big batch on tap on April 20th.Chief Photojournalist Curt Tremper takes a closer look in the video above and lets the brewers break it down for you in their own words.  596

LAS VEGAS — A Las Vegas family is living in fear after two men broke in while their teenage daughter hid in a bedroom closet.17-year-old Maxeen is still shook up after what happened inside her home near Cactus and Interstate 15 on Saturday.“It sucks to just be alone and I’ve never been in a situation like that,” she said.Maxeen said she was home alone Saturday when someone started ringing the doorbell repeatedly around 2:30 p.m.Maxeen felt something was wrong, and that’s when she says a man showed up in the backyard breaking in through the sliding glass door.“I tried to call my mom but she was at work, so I kind of ran upstairs and I knew he was going to come to the back,” the teen said.Maxeen dialed 911 and hid in one of the closets in a bedroom.The home’s interior surveillance camera shows two men running up the stairs where Maxeen was hiding.Maxeen’s mom is thankful her daughter is OK, but says this frightening ordeal has hit the entire family.“We’re very disturbed right now,” Maxeen's mother, Barbara, said. “It feels like it’s not real, but it is. So we got affected by it and everyone is so scared.”The family said the burglars actually left their getaway ride outside the home when they left.They took a picture of it and hope that vehicle will lead police to the two.  1309

LAKESIDE, Calif. (KGTV) -- A woman was arrested after deputies say she assaulted the vice principal of her son’s school in Lakeside Tuesday. The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department says the incident started when Monique Martin tried to pick up her son from school. When Martin was asked for identification, deputies say she became combative and physically assaulted the vice principal of Lakeside Middle School before returning home. Less parental warmth and a more harsh work environment affect how aggressive children become and whether they lack empathy and a moral compass, according to a new study.Researchers at the University of Michigan, University of Pennsylvania and Michigan State University studied 227 pairs of identical twins. They analyzed differences in the parenting that each twin experienced to determine whether the differences predicted the emergence of antisocial behaviors.The study found that the twin who experienced harsher treatment and less emotional warmth had a greater chance of showing aggression and a lack of empathy and moral compass.These characteristics are known as callous-unemotional traits."The study convincingly shows that parenting—and not just genes—contributes to the development of risky callous-unemotional traits," said Luke Hyde, U-M associate professor of psychology. "Because identical twins have the same DNA, we can be more sure that the differences in parenting the twins received affects the development of these traits."Parents of the twins completed a 50-item questionnaire about the home environment, establishing their harshness and warmth levels.The work, published in the Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, is the latest in a series of studies from Penn's Rebecca Waller, assistant professor of psychology, and colleagues using observation to assess a variety of aspects of parenting. "Some of the early work on callous-unemotional traits focused on their biological bases, like genetics and the brain, making the argument that these traits develop regardless of what is happening in a child's environment, that parenting doesn't matter," said Waller, lead author of the current study. "We felt there must be something we could change in the environment that might prevent a susceptible child from going down the pathway to more severe antisocial behavior."Waller says a potential next step to turn these findings into interventions for families trying to prevent a child from developing these traits or to improve troubling behaviors. "From a real-world standpoint, creating interventions that work practically and are actually able to change behaviors in different types of families is complicated," she said. "But these results show that small differences in how parents care for their children matters. LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. (AP) - Lake Elsinore’s Walker Canyon, site of a magnificent super bloom of poppies, reopened Monday after “Disneyland size crowds” overwhelmed the small Southern California city, creating what officials called a “miserable situation.” Social media photos showed heavy traffic on Interstate 15 near Lake Street and Nichols Road Sunday, where many visitors stopped and parked illegally to enjoy the flower fields. The California Highway Patrol issued a Sig Alert Monday and shut down the Lake Street offramp to control the situation. Despite the start of the work week, the number of visitors remained high Monday due to spring break, according to Nicole Dailey, assistant to the Lake Elsinore city manager. Dailey was not able to estimate the amount of people traveling to the flower fields. Four people were hurt over the weekend, Dailey said. Lake Elsinore businesses saw a boost, Dailey reported, but it has been “too much of an increase.” Starbucks emailed city officials saying they were overwhelmed by the demand and couldn’t keep up. “This weekend has become unbearable Lake Elsinore,” city officials posted, adding “it has been miserable and has caused unnecessary hardships for our entire community.” Lake Elsinore also reached out to other law enforcement agencies for assistance. “We have brought in all available staff, as many outside traffic controllers that we could, more shuttles, and our small City can not sustain crowds of this magnitude,” city officials said on Instagram. “We have reached out to our neighboring and county agencies for help. We have reached out to Caltrans. We have reached out to CHP.
