Two moderate members of the Republican party scoured President Donald Trump's continued attempts to challenge the result of the 2020 election on Thursday. After a day that saw Trump personally court state election officials in Michigan and a lengthy and wild press conference from his personal lawyer, Sens. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, and Ben Sasse, R-Nebraska, each issued statements criticizing the President's continued unsubstantiated claims of widespread voter fraud.Late Thursday evening, Romney released a statement on Twitter bashing Trump over reports that he personally called Republican canvassers in Michigan, who are attempting to overturn their own decisions to certify the election results in Wayne County encompasses Detroit."Having failed to make even a plausible cause of widespread fraud or conspiracy before any court of law, the President has now resorted to overt pressure on state and local officials to subvert the will of the people and overturn the election," Romney wrote. "It is difficult to imagine a worse, more undemocratic action by a sitting American President." 1096

Trevor Lawrence, No. 1-ranked Clemson’s Heisman Trophy candidate, will miss Saturday’s game against Boston College after testing positive for COVID-19, Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney confirmed late Thursday. The Clemson quarterback has already thrown for 17 touchdowns and 1,833 yards in five games, helping Clemson to the No. 1 ranking in the nation, according to the Associated Press Top 25 poll.“Trevor has authorized us this evening to announce that he has tested positive for COVID-19 and is now in isolation,” Swinney said. “He is doing well with mild symptoms but will not be available for this week’s game against Boston College. While we certainly will miss Trevor, this is an opportunity for other guys to step up and we’re excited about competing against a very good BC team on Saturday.”The ACC requires teams to screen for COVID-19 48 hours before competitions. All players who test positive must undergo a cardiac exam before being cleared to play. With Saturday marking the first full weekend of college football with the return of the Pac-12, three FBS game have been canceled or postponed due to COVID-19 tests, including two Top 25 matchups: No. 19 Marshall versus Florida International and No. 9 Wisconsin versus Nebraska. 1247

TUSCON, Ariz. – Nearly million worth of meth, cocaine and heroin were found in a vehicle along the U.S.-Mexican border over the weekend, according to U.S. Border Patrol.Agents say two 18-year-olds were arrested Saturday after attempting to smuggle the narcotics near Rio Rico.Officials say agents were patrolling the desert north of the border when they saw several people emerge from brush and load packages into a parked truck near Pe?a Blanca Lake before departing back into the desert.Minutes later, border patrol says agents conducted a traffic stop on a red Chevrolet Silverado in the area. Concealed inside the vehicle, they reportedly found 57 packages of suspected meth, cocaine and heroin, with a street value estimated at about ,889,600.The truck’s driver and passenger, both residents of Rio Rico, were arrested and ultimately turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration, along with the seized drugs, to face federal drug charges, according to border patrol.Agents say they were unable to locate the individuals that emerged from the brush. 1072

TWIN LAKES, Colo. -- Riley Tinkham has done something very special with his dad's prized Porsche. He inherited the 1982 model when his father, Richard, died of complications from cancer in 2016. The car had been sitting in a garage for several years, so Tinkham fixed it up.Earlier this summer he took the car and parked it in front of his house in Twin Lakes, Colorado. He adorned it with a couple of inspirational quotes, one on each side of the Porsche. He borrowed one of them from Mark Twain."Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."He said the second quote is from Billy Cox, a motivational speaker."Life will only change when you become more committed to your dreams than your comfort zone.""I think that's a really poignant quote today," Tinkham said, "with how many comforts we have in life, how much technology we have. Everything is easier than it's ever been."After seeing the quotes, Tinkham's friend, Bob Dalzell, who operates a coffee shop on wheels called Percolated Peaks, suggested that he leave a magic marker out for others to add their own inspiration. So he did."Not all who wander are lost," one woman wrote."Live life, have fun, kick ass," a man wrote."The mountains are calling and I must go," wrote another woman.Tinkham told KMGH he's enjoyed seeing the next level his car has gone to."I'm being inspired," he said. "To see that shared with other people is really rewarding." Tinkham said the orange paint is removable and he plans to peel it off in the spring and start a new project with the special car. 1789
