SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Don't just sit at home daydreaming about that new car, go check it out in person — maybe even getting behind the wheel!Vehicles from more than 30 auto manufacturers rolls into the San Diego International Auto Show at the San Diego Convention Center from Dec. 27 to 30. Everything from the newest in electric and hybrid vehicles to luxury SUVs and trucks will be out to see — without the whole "car salesman vibe" as you look around.Organizers say attendees will see a huge emphasis on technology, between new safety equipment and advanced features to make driving safer and more enjoyable. Nearly every manufacturer plans to feature some level of discussion regarding autonomous vehicles at their exhibit.More than 400 new vehicles will be on display for attendees to check out and even test out themselves. Test drives will be offered in front of the convention center and inside, in the case of Camp Jeep. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Fire crews responded to a small brush fire that broke out Wednesday afternoon in a highly residential area.According to firefighters, the blaze broke out on the 2500 block of Sumac Drive near Azalea Hollywood Park.Crews were quickly able to stop the forward rate of spread before flames spread to nearby homes.In total, the fire burned three fourths of an acre.  395

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Explosions rang out Thursday and Friday at an ocean view La Jolla home where FBI agents served a search warrant. Agents were checking the house at 625 Wrelton Drive in an ongoing investigation when they came across “certain materials,” said FBI Special Agent Davene Butler. The County of San Diego Hazardous Incident Response Team (HIRT) and San Diego Fire-Rescue were contacted for help to detonate and dispose of unstable chemicals. The material could not be safely moved from the neighborhood, Butler said. On Thursday, people who live near the home were evacuated for their safety, according to the FBI. On Friday, they were told to shelter in place. The bomb squad detonated Perchloric Acid in the backyard around 1 p.m."The reason we're blowing them up is, if they are handled improperly, they can blow up on their own," said Robert Wise, of the Environmental Protection Agency. Federal search warrants show a man named Alex Jvirblis owned the home. Jvirblis passed away in August. He owned a materlal science company called Curtis Technology, giving him access to the chemicals. Jvirblis had no immediate hours, but the federal search warrant reveals a nephew who may inherit the home discovered the chemicals and called police. The home sits on a knoll above Tourmaline Surf Park overlooking the Pacific Ocean. 1702
